fyi, version 2.0.2 beta builds are now rolling out and include a fix to this.
Thanks for the feedback!

If so, for a quick fix, you need to go to your SD card/MediaMonkey and delete the "meta_files" folder.
In specific cases, it may cause scanning problems. The issue will be fixed in the next build.

Nevermind, I think something is finally happening - seems to be syncing now.

Sync is waiting for other background operations to complete

by tbm72 » Mon Oct 21, 2024 10:10 am

After the nightmare time I recently had with "Scan for updated media files?" on every launch (https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 92#p520992) I rolled back to MMA 2.0.0.1173 and ended up taking about 5 days rebuilding my entire library on my phone. I vowed to stay off updating MMA again but recently saw that issue now seems to be addressed so today I updated MMA to the recent version 2.0.1.1214.

But now when I try to sync my phone I just get stuck on this screen:

It just sits on that message (over 2 hours now). I've tried rebooting my phone but same thing happens when I try to sync again. On my desktop MMW there's no activity spinner during the sync so it doesn't look like my phone is communicating with my PC.

It was syncing fine on 1173 until I updated today. What could the background operation be that it says it's waiting for?

Scanning files into the library- Audio

by kmicheal » Sat Oct 19, 2024 1:02 pm

Since last week or so, every time I open MMA on my phone it starts "Scanning files into the library- Audio". From the titles listing out in the status window, I can see it is starting at the beginning and moving through. When it gets about 1/4 through the status bar jumps to the end. It then pauses for a long while and then finally it says it's Completed successfully. Except if I go to sync new files, I am told that Sync is waiting for other background operations to finish.

If I close the app completely, it starts this scan all over again, from the beginning, and going 1/4 through. I was able to sync intermittently and before it syncs new files, it goes through a New File Matching routine which I don't remember seeing before. All of this started about a week or two ago. Before that everything was working fine.

I have MediaMonkey for Android Pro 2.0.1.1214.
I have MediaMonkey for Windows (Gold-Lifetime) 5.0.5.2695.
My song files are on an SD card in the phone. (When I check the sync settings, it can find the card ok and the server -- also I can play anything in my library ... it's just that this unending scanning is slowing things down and eating up my battery).

I was wondering if some file could have become corrupted that is telling MMA it needs to scan new files every time? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd prefer not to have to uninstall and reinstall but I will if that's the only way to fix this (my music library is rather large).

Thanks in advance.

All the media in the folders for my music were synced via WIFI. Everything seems fine there but every time I want to make updates I open the app and it starts the scan and the WIFI sync says it won't start until other background operations are complete which seems to be the scan. I have not copied any music manually to the SD card.

I do seem to have duplicate tracks and I am not sure how to get rid of them besides manually going through my collection and deleted them when I find them.

I created a log. It is log number C9F9NZZFXZ

The scanning should take some time only when changes are detected.
You can expand the progress cycle to see what is processing.
If the scanning was interrupted, it could cause the re-downloading of existing tracks during Wi-fi sync.
On the other hand, there are some parts like folder parser for folder browser, which can be time-consuming and can be postponed.

1) Did you synchronize all the media on the SD card via Wifi-sync or copy it manually?
2) Can you send a log so I can verify what is currently being scanned? (Options/Help/Send logs and write down Log ID)

how do I stop the scan

Every time I open the mediamonkey app on my phone is starts scanning my sd card. It does not give me a pop up to ask me if I want to scan, it just does it. I can not do a wifi sync because it says it needs to wait for other background operations to complete. I have a large collection of music already on my sd card so it takes forever to scan and if the app closes or freezes it just starts the scan again next time I open it. I just want to cancel the scan so I can sync. I am using version 2.0.1.1214 which I believe is the most up to date.
