That's the Add On I used. A lot of the comments make it look scarily complicated. Don't worry, it's not.

I had exactly the same issue a few weeks ago and was surprised at how easy the process was.

You should have a look at the Add On "Update Location" which I used. (You'll find it in the "Need help with Add Ons" section of the forum.) It was a pretty scary thought losing all my DB tags and playcounts/ratings etc. But the process was very quick and worked really well. And all my data was pretty much intact.

As long as your new drive has the same directory structure as the old one it will be straightforward. Mine was identical but I took the opportunity to change the drive allocation letter on the new drive.

It all worked really neatly.

If you get stuck or confused, shout.

Best

In most case File > Locate Moved/Missing Files will do the trick, otherwise try: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... w_computer

Moving Library B/c External Hard Drive Crashed

by thathiphopguy » Fri Dec 27, 2013 12:23 am

I just need some advice. My external hard drive with 46,000 MP3 files just crashed yesterday (Merry Christmas to me). I am in the process of restoring from a remote CrashPlan back up (which is now on Day 2). I am restoring onto the local C: drive b/c I am not sure what I want to do or what would work best.

The drive that my MM Library was on was the F:/ I could go out and buy a 2TB drive and rename it F:/ and probably not have any issues. But by the time I filled a 2TB HD with music, it's going to break down anyway. So I am thinking about just leaving it on the C: Which begs the question, how do I use Media Monkey to find my files again w/o losing my ratings or my play counts? Play counts and ratings are very important for me not to lose so I need to make sure that those are intact. Media Monkey is of course on the same drive.

I am using windows 8.1 64Bit if it matters. Also, any feedback on using External vs. Internal HD for music storage? My internal HD is 1TB. Computer is about 6 months old. My music collection is about 270GB after diligent collecting since maybe 2008.

Thanks for your help.
