Re: New to Media Monkey and Album Art Tagger

May I add a supplementary? Can this script be used in a hierarchy of folders (organized as <Artist>\>Album>) to do: where "folder.jpg" exists in the Album folder, rename it to "Folder.jpg" (and don't care whether the file already exists). My ripping software used folder.jpg, but now I want to use a ...

Re: MediaMonkey Suite (Video support in MM)

I would want everything that currently prevents me personally from never starting up iTunes again, i.e., lack of features that prevent a full migration. That would be the ability to sync .aa Audible files and video podcasts.

Re: Keeping Podcast subscriptions separate from library

I keep my music on a network drive e.g. \\NAS\Media\music and my podcast subscriptions on the local machine. That keep them separate. If you keep the podcasts in a directory that is NOT under the path for music you should be OK.

Maybe I haven't read closely enough, but is it intended that a rating on the ipod of a transcoded file (mp3) should be written back to the originating FLAC file?

Is this what you mean?
  • Create a playlist Firstlist
Create a second auto-playlist and add an advanced condition of Property Condition Value set to Playlist, IS, Firstlist
Set to Match Any of the criteria,
Add the second criterion (Property Condition Value) to be ORed

I just checked that mine converted a FLAC to 128 kbps mp3. You can also set an auto-conversion e.g. to cram smaller mp3s onto a portable player. You'll have to be more specific if anyone is to help you. You didn't actually ask a question.

Re: MM3 Podcast feedback

...When updating my podcasts...It would be better if you could specify the number of files MM should download at any one time (2 or 3 would be preferable)... I would like this a lot. I subscribe to many podcasts. MM updates one at a time, and it can thus take hours to update all podcasts (which I l...

The term for this in the audio world was always compression. Now that the digital age also uses the term for reducing file sizes, it's become rather difficult to google accurately, but there are some interesting leads with the term "software audio compressor". There's an article here http://en.wikip...

Hi, Suddenly, MM3 does not add new files to the library when told to add new files by network location (UNC path) but it will with the Windows drive letter. My whole database is with UNC references, so far, and I want to continue like that. Am I overlooking something? Any idea what the problem coul...

I think you overlooked something: if you click on the magnifying glass, choose the advanced tab, then add a search criterion, open the Property list, then you'll see Involved people.

I don't know about best, but one way would to add the name in the Artist field after a semicolon, e.g. "Brand X; Percy Jones". The bassist would then appear individually in the Artist node because things separated by a semi-colon count as multiple entries.

Thanks, Nyn, but unfortunately if you have an ipod then audible insists you use itunes. I quote from Audible: Please note the iPod is not compatible with AudibleManager, so you must use the latest version of iTunes to add Audible content to your iPod. . I'm trying to get away from iTunes! Still, at ...

Thanks for the replies. I suppose the answer is "no" I can't use MM to handle the synching if I don't first convert the files to a format that MM does handle. I was hoping that even if it would not play them because of DRM it could at least be persuaded to load them on to an iPod. I'll take a look a...

Audible .aa audio books and MM - possible?

Is there any way to handle, or at least allow synch of, audio books from www.audible.com that have the protected type .aa in MM? Actual playback in MM would be a bonus. I'd be happy enough if MM could simply recognise the files when told to look in the right folder, and then allow synching to an iPo...
