So you're saying that these 'Best of' albums aren't actually official albums with Track #'s but rather that you're labelling them as 'Best' for your own management purposes and that's why there are not track #'s assigned?

Auto-tag, by default, has 'Allow compilations' disabled (in which case it will try to find the earliest instance of an album containing a track).
