[REQ] Convert Format from video to audio
Right now the convert format process only allows you to convert to other formats of the same type of content. For instance, MP4 to AVI, or FLAC to MP3, but does not allow MP4 (video) to flac (audio). I regularly get music videos and want to rip the audio track out of them and save them to my music ...

Re: Using Multiple Value Separator in Auto-Organize operations
Ok, looks like there is a mask called $FIRST, which you can use to extra only the first X tags from a multiple tag field.
E.g.
M:\_LIBRARY\$First(<Artist>)\<Album> [$Upper(<Extension>)]\<Track #> - <Artist> - <Title>
This solves my problem.

Re: Using Multiple Value Separator in Auto-Organize operations
Well... this doesn't actually work because if a track does not have multiple tags, then the mask comes back with NOTHING for the tag. Does anyone know how to fix that?

Re: Using Multiple Value Separator in Auto-Organize operations
Silly to reply to myself... but in case others are wondering how to do this... I found that you can modify the values from tags using some built-in "masks" which are sort of like little functions or pre-processors. They are all described on this support page: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHelp ...

Using Multiple Value Separator in Auto-Organize operations
I've got several albums which have multiple artist names listed in the artist field using the semicolon multiple value separator. This is working perfectly in that I can search for any of the artist names and fine the tracks. However, the auto-organize feature is making directories with the full tag ...

Auto-Organize with Album Artist ignored if empty?
I'd like to setup auto-organize to put albums into <album artist>\<album>\ for albums that are all the same artist, but only do <album>\ for compilations or other albums that have a collection of artists on them. I can't seem to figure out if there is a way to do a programmatic way to do this ...

Auto Organize will not allow you to move/copy over existing files [#16505]
I'm not sure if this change was made on purpose but the build I have now (5.0.0.2219) but Auto-Organize will no longer allow you to move/copy files if files already exist in the destination with the same name. In the previous version it would give you a warning and show the files highlighted in red ...

Re: Management of Collections thru content (metadata) vs fil
I can see where I might not be the usual audience for MediaMonkey, and accept that, but also I don't think that just because a smaller group wants a feature it should be completely ignored. Like I said, if you look back through the forums you can see this request [support for multiple copies managed ...

Re: Management of Collections thru content (metadata) vs fil
Don't you mean the other way around? MM can both organize and manage, but it is focused more on organizing. Organizing is simply moving/ordering things around to make sense out of disorder. Managing implies to control by keeping up with things as they naturally change (it's in my bag or room, I ...

Re: Management of Collections thru content (metadata) vs fil
If I want to transfer the VBR192 file formats for a release to a portable player, I can just click that file format and add it to a playlist or device. There is no need to keep a low quality copy as sync can convert on-the-fly when syncing. Although sync may be a little slower it is far less ...

Management of Collections thru content (metadata) vs files
I came to MediaMonkey in hopes that it would be a way for me to organize and manage my media collections. Unfortunately, it appears instead to be focused on managing the collection of your media files. What is the distinction? Let me give you an example: I own several copies of Pink Floyd's The Wall ...
