Re: Dealing with artists with the same name
I do like @Lowlander suggested (AUS) or (UK) or (USA) etc, after the name.

Re: When will you port to Linux?
This comes up fairly regularly, and its a few months since the previous post but just to clarify - it has been stated before that the developers will wait until MM5 is stable before developing a Linux (or other OS) version. This is the only sensible thing to do. From a business point of view the on...

Re: Where is it possible to download music ?
Bandcamp is another site for music download of up and coming artists, many different genres. Not free (maybe a few still are), but usually reasonably priced.

Re: How big is you music collection? (2)
My music collection was given to me by a local DJ for fixing his computer. It contains just about everything you would find in the classic rock category and any type of music a stripper would request to dance to. I'm not into music like I was when I was young but I bought this program hoping to org...

Re: Experience ripping a large number of CD's for MM?
I can't say that I have thoroughly tried the different compression levels to compare file size but with modern processors you don't need to worry about the processing power. Even the lowest powered modern processor has more than enough power to handle flac encoding. I just tried encoding a 3:30 wav...

Re: Experience ripping a large number of CD's for MM?
I do however apply level 3 compression to the FLAC files, which doesn't alter the quality of the FLAC (it's still lossless), but gives the best bang for buck, for filesize V Processing Time/load. The compression level doesn't alter the quality of the FLAC files. It just compresses the file more the...

Re: Experience ripping a large number of CD's for MM?
I recently finished re-ripping my CDs (over 1500 in all) as I had originally ripped them to MP3, a few years back. I ripped them to FLAC, using Exact Audio Copy (EAC), which I set up to rip to the file structure "Desktop/New Music/Artist/date - Album/01 - title". My reason for this is that I like to...

The media files are .mp3 format, the playlist files are probably .m3u or .pla files

Re: Generating genre from folders
I'm sorry, but who in their right mind organises their physical library using genre? I don't think its a good idea to make judgemental statements about someone's logic. Since my post introduced the idea of organization by Genre, (which in the first place was merely for context of the technical ques...

Re: Generating genre from folders
This is a great forum and MM a great software with only a few problems. My main problem is that I found no way to import the Genre information located in a path to MM automatically. My folder structure: Music/Genre/Artist-Album/Artist-Tracks. The Genre column in MM is empty and I do not want to ent...

Re: Generating genre from folders
The best file structure is the one that works best for you . For me, I like to be able to easily find an album, especially when I am updating my music collection, and I have ripped a flac copy to replace a dubious mp3 copy. I have two main folders, one for FLAC and the other MP3. Then they, in turn,...
