Sorry, it's the other way round. Searching "Any text field" finds things in "Involved people" but not in "Album Comment"

musicians playing

Like you I put the list of musicians playing in the "Album Comment" if it's important and available. If it is there it can be found easily with the normal search function if you put the name of the musician you are looking for in "Any text field" of the search mask. For the size of my music collecti...

no driveletter in songs path

It's not a bug it's a feature - and it is very clever. MediaMonkey identifies the drive via it's serial number, so you can put cds in different drives or us external HDs without caring about the drive letter - MM will find the correct database entries anyway

ID3 tags

small correction: ID3V1 is at the end of the file, ID3V2 at the beginning - the other informations are correct and very clear. You can look at it if you open an .mp3 file in a hex editor, but you shouldn't change it this way. WinAmp can edit ID3V1 and ID3V2 indepently.

print cd label

Take a look at www.cdrlabel.com. I use an older version that prints only the filenames, the latest version is said to read also MP3 tags.

updated scripting in V2.4

What's new in scripting? Searched the "What's new" on the MediaMonkey homepage but couldn't find anything special about scripting. And it would be very helpful if MediaMonkeyScripting.chm would have a date or a version number. The date of the file shows when I downloded it, not the last change. Than...

multiple artists

You could use the "involved people" field in the tracks "properties - details" dialog and create a node for it using MagicNodes.

Error with "Original artist"

I added an "Original Artist" node, similar to the "Album Artist" node from the example. This is the code: Original Artist|icon:top level|child of:artist\<Original Artist|trim:1>\<Original Artist> The "first character" nodes are created correctly. On single click on "Original Artist" node or one of t...

@lowlander: what does it do?

This function queries all not yet queried CDs (the CDs with CDDBQueryState = 0 in table Medias) in FreeDB. SongsDB keeps the CDDB key and the track data needed for the query in the database after scanning a CD. If it finds multiple entries for some of them you can select which one to use in the same...

sortname - not surname

My proposal was 'sortname', not surname. eg. write 'The Beatles' in artist field and 'Beatles' in sortname (this case could easily be done by a script) The example of Kramer, Billy J & the Dakotas would result in artist = 'Billy J Kramer & the Dakotas' sortname = 'Dakotas' (I prefer 'artist' exactly...

Submit to FreeDB, enter media manually

What I miss most in SongsDB / MediaMonkey is the ability to submit my CD data to FreeDB and the possibility to enter data manually so that I also can search my vinyl LPs and cassette tapes with MediaMonkey.

proposal: a separate database field 'sortname'

I would prefer an additional database field 'sortname', that could be filled by the user manually or automatically by the program or some scripts that remove 'the', 'le', 'la' or whatever seems useful. Use 'sortname' if it is filled and normal 'artist' field if 'sortname' is empty.
