Re: Earliest Release Date from Discogs v2.0

Well, I have been working on a script to do what wxdude has already done, change MediaMonkey dates to earliest release dates. I'm just using MusicBrainz instead of Discogs - mainly because I didn't know wxdude's script even existed. If wxdude figures out how to query MusicBrainz for this info, then ...

Re: Earliest Release Date from Discogs v2.0

I've been working on a Python script to query MusicBrainz to get the earliest release date. I've hit a snag which makes me wonder if it's going to be 100% accurate. The problem that I hit is with the song "Blue Monday" by New Order. The correct answer is 1983, when the single was released. I have ye...

Re: Copying info from MP3 to FLAC

Something that you should consider releasing to the public as others may find this helpful as well. Yes, I can see people finding it helpful, but not necessarily useful to non-programmers. I don't code professionally or anything - I just bang on keys until I get results. :-) As such, it is more of ...

Re: Copying info from MP3 to FLAC

I had to do a *lot* of cleanup of artists and song titles, actually. I ended up writing a Python script that got the list of unique artist names, and then did a fuzzy compare of each artist name to every other artist name, spitting out close-but-not-perfect matches. For each of these near-matches I ...

Re: Copying info from MP3 to FLAC

Pretty damn sweet. Thanks! Alas, I am going to have to get creative because Advanced Duplicate Find & Fix is looking for exact matches and finding about 1/10 of what I think it should find. This is not ADF&F's fault, but likely to be slight differences in naming. As a test, I wrote a quick script in...

Copying info from MP3 to FLAC

About 10 years ago I ripped my CDs to 224kbps MP3s. Now that hard drives are much cheaper, I've decided to re-rip them to FLAC. I've modified my MP3 tags quite a bit over the years, and I'd like to get this info from my MP3s to my FLACs. My ratings are of utmost importance, since they drive what I l...

Re: Sending music only to receiver

Well it's been a month, and I have since upgraded to Vista 64, and upgraded to a Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium. And now everything works exactly how I want, with one quick configuration option. Tools... Output Plugins... MediaMonkey Directsound Output... Configure... and then I choose SPDIF Out . Music...

Re: How to efficiently rate an entire music library

I have a Logitech G15 gaming keyboard which has 6 keys that can run specific key-presses or even "macros" consisting of several key-presses. I decided to use them so that I could quickly rate songs. First I edited hotkeys in MM, adding ones for "Rating now playing track: Rate 1 Star" through "...5 S...

Re: UPnP AV Server shows in Vista but not XP

... unless there's a service or something specifically related to UPnP?? I believe that "Universal Plug and Play Device Host" must be running. Start... Run... services.msc... Double-click "Universal Plug and Play Device Host" and set Startup Type to Automatic, click Start, wait for it to start and ...

Re: Sending music only to receiver

You can achieve this by using two soundcards, same way you did with your headphones. One for Windows, one for music only. You just need to specify in Win and Apps which one they should use. The problem you had with your old SoundBlaster was probably because it conflicts with your onboard card. You ...

Re: Sending music only to receiver

So, if IDT 2 directs MM out the digital TOSLink - a wishful, wild-assed guess - then this will do exactly what I want. Alas, if IDT 2 does something else then I am completely out of luck without a different solution. I guess that I'll have to get a TOSLink cable and actually test this now. Well, th...

Sending music only to receiver

I am planning on hooking up my sound card to my receiver so that I can listen to music on my good speakers, over TOSLink. But I'd rather keep all other sounds going to my regular PC speakers. Is this possible with MM? If so, I assume that I'll need some type of output plugin? Currently MM lists only...
