Re: Catastrophic Failure?

Something like this ? Sort of yes, but those posts suggest that only the Lyrics, Artwork, and Comments section are pure white, for me the whole window that opens after pressing CTRL+L is white. I still have the search bar, where the search and options buttons are, and the "Undo" button at the botto...

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

To update the forum, this issue has now got just plain weird! This is the current situation: As you all suggested, I installed Media Monkey without uninstalling the Portable Version, first time it came up with Error Opening During Initialisation" errors and such like, but once I selected "Now Playin...

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

There's been quite a surprising development with all this - well, exciting to me, anyway! I was just about to carry out the instructions and suggestions above, when I tried opening another piece of software, which also appeared to have problems, so using the Widnose XP boot disc, I went into the Rec...

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

I don't like to sound pushy, but do I assume that as there have been no further replies, the techincal issues my P.C. system has are outside the scope of this forum, and that I am probably looking at a re-format and re-install of the O.S.? I am hoping for some good news here people - well I can hope?!

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

Thanks for that reply, MMFrLife. I have actually done as you suggested: re-installed Media Monkey Portable after running Malwarebytes across the P.C., and lo-and-behold, the situation has got worse! I should add, that no malware threats were found... This is what I see when launching Media Monkey fr...

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

Am I to assume (never assume anything) that as there have been no further replies, that: 1. You actually DO need screen shots of the error message seen when starting Media Monkey? 2. Everyone's too busy? 3. Media Monkey/My P.C. system has a serious problem, and the only remaining answer is to wipe a...

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

No, I don't have iTunes installed and you were taking me too literally!

I meant I clicked on the icon to launch Media Monkey within its installation directory, as instructed, i.e. mediamonkey.exe

Hope this clarifies the situation.

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

No need for a Desktop screen shot Peke and Lowlander! I have done what you asked, and installed Media Monkey the Portable Version to the root of "C". I then went into the Media Monkey folder in the root of "C" (not the Desktop) and double clicked on the launch.exe. The result I got was two standard ...

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

Thanks Lowlander and MMFrLife for your replies. In answer to your questions, no I installed the portable version to tbe "C" Drive and Program Files directory only. To be honest, I only tried it because I'd tried everything else! I can install to the Desktop as you suggest, but is there any point? On...

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

Well, the point on the uninstall/reinstall was whether or not you are installing the most recent version or just reinstalling "your" current one (which could also be "the" current one. But, like you say, it sounds like you got a lot more going than on that. :( I've tried both: the already downloade...

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

not on Portable version, tried it, and that wouldn't even install properly. How did it fail? Basically it appeared to be a quarter install: the icons on the Desktop identified as the Widnose 'don't know what the application is' white box with a blue border at the top, and whenever I clicked on them...

Re: Catastrophic Failure?

Lowlander's suggestion is first thing to check/try. Also, being on XP, have you had a lot of issues with MM in general; whether major or minor, in the past/recently before current problem? Did you also try uninstalling any/all other add-ons or do a "clean" uninstall of MM? Are you on portable versi...

[SOLVED] Windows XP Catastrophic Failure?

***I posted the message below one week ago and it was moved to the problem with addons section, as it mentions Discogs Tagger. Unfortunately, the thread in Addons is very long, and it hasn't received a response, however...I have since un-installed the Discogs Tagger completely, re-booted the P.C. an...

Catastrophic Failure?

I have a P.C. moreoreless dedicated to using Media Monkey to tag, and up until an odd series of events, I have had great success in doing so. Before going into this, I am ready to accept the awful possibility of an intermittent hardware issue coming into play. First of all, without any warning, the ...

Re: Amazon tagging not finding artists/band.

Okay, I think I understand that. So, what you're saying is because Media Monkey only captures data from one side of Amazon and not the other, when it comes to new releases from artists and bands without an album release, for the greater percentage of time, I wouldn't be able to use Amazon, is this r...
