Yes! What he said! 8) I am constantly finding new ways to use it. Believe it or not, one of the things that I have found very useful is the Played# field. At first I thought it would just be curiousity feature, but then I realized that it could simplify my life! I used to group files into folders li...

Sure, that makes sense.

I use Psychic MP3 mainly for albums that I rip from cassette or vinyl. (Ripping from CDs can use FreeDB, of course.) It works reasonably well for my purpose, but I can see where it wouldn't help you too much.

As a follow-up, I tried the exact same thing with a track that had not been added to the library first. Everything worked correctly in that case. So, I conclude that the My Computer node uses some information from the library for tracks that have already been added to the library. That would be OK (...

My Artist filter doesn't work correctly

Situation: 1) I right-click on the Artist node and select Filter. 2) I check the "Show just artists with songs which" box and click the "Set songs conditions" button. 3) Under the Advanced tab, I set the condition "Artist contains [radio]". 4) I click OK twice to apply the filter Result: Nothing ge...

Track# not displaying correctly in My Computer node

Situation: 1) I have a song that has already been added to the library which has no track#. There is no track number in the database (SongOrder = -1), and there is no track number in the ID3 tags (verified by another app). 2) On the My Computer node, I locate the song and type a 1 directly into the ...

Interesting! I found it to be fairly successful for songs ripped from CD, and even remarkably good for songs ripped from vinyl or cassette. I wonder why we're seeing different results?

Thanks for the good info on RA, Rusty. You mentioned,
You can even add them to the library if you wish.
Can you explain how? RealAudio file types aren't selections that can be picked via the Add Tracks to Library Dialogue. Thanks!

Thanks. I tried that approach today, actually. GMTA! I've been checking folders manually to look for any leftovers. Dealing with folders that contain both music files that MM recognizes, music files that MM doesn't recognize (e.g. RealAudio), and other support files has turned out to be the thing I'...

Hmmm.... It appears that development on this tool ended last year, but the software is still available for download. I've found it useful in the past.

That's an interesting idea! Unfortunately, it doesn't solve my particular problem. I need to move folders, not files. (This is because those folders can contain other support files like NFO files, HTML, etc. that I need to move along with the sound files.) The way I've been dealing with this problem...

PsychicMP3 can often tag song, artist, and album info based on FreeDB. It doesn't do artwork though.

Album Filtering: Top level node not filtered

I really like the filtering capability of the Artist and Album nodes. I've noticed something strange, however. It looks like MM only applies the filter to the sub-nodes. The top level Artist or Album node (which normally lists ALL artists or albums) is not filtered. (The filter I am using searches f...

I agree with you totally, Lowlander. I love the fact that MM provides a way to manage and play files without using MM's library. I want that to stay the same. What I was trying to describe was the confusing / misleading display that MM provides for My Computer when a file doesn't have a tag. MM trie...
