Playlist Links : Help Please

Post by tstarkmi »

I'm hoping the following question is a 'softball' for one of you!

I've recently converted to Media Monkey from Windows Media Player.

I make a lot of playlists. I move a lot of files after I make playlists.

In Media Player, when I would move a file after it was added to a playlist, it would just show up as a dead link in the playlist after I moved the file.

In MediaMonkey, the song is disappearing entirely from the playlist after I move the file.

Is there a way to just make a 'dead link' in the playlist after I move the file so that I can re-link to the file after I move it, as opposed to having the song disappear completely from the playlist?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe I just found the answer to my own question.

If I move the files within the MediaMonkey interface, it will track the movement of the files.

If I move the files outside of MediaMoneky, say folder to folder in Vista, then the files are eliminated from the playlists.

Thanks self!

but your right.

" Don't Move the files outside of media monkey after you scanned them in to the database, Monkey looses them that way and starts throwing banana peels at you. "

It's interesting that the answer is not intuitive. Maybe because Media Player doesn't let you move the files within its interface. Hmm. Very interesting. Long live the monkey.
