Tagging files after re-ripping (image tag not synchronised)

Hi All,

I've just recently started on the arduous task of ripping my entire CD collection into flac, using MM, and I've already suffered a setback! I made the newbie mistake of starting to rip my albums with "level volume" checked, kind of defeats the purpose of ripping them to a lossless format. So I decided to re-rip them, one album at a time. To do this I ripped the album to a new directory, shutdown MM, copied the .flac files over the old ones in the library (most of the files are bigger, incidentally). Now I restart MM and look at the "unsynchronised tags" view, which picks up the newly overwritten files and allows me to resync their tags - lovely.

Except that the image tag doesn't get resynced. So my new .flac files sit in the same directory as their "folder.jpg" and the MM db links the two... but other players that rely on the tag within the flac file don't connect. Is there any way I can automate this process?

Any help or advice most greatfully received.

Thanks,

Tim.

I don't think that info is stored in the tag, only in the database (linked album art). If you want album art in the tags, then save it to tags rather than linking it.

I believe that the Album Art Tagger script can move external files into the tags. Check it out in the Scripts and Components forum.

Thanks, I believe that flac can't contain the image itself, only a reference to the image. I will check out that script and let you know how it goes.

No, MediaMonkey supports saving the image to the FLAC file itself.

For the record, the script worked fine, it has more functions than I'd realised.

It does indeed put the image into a tag, whereas flac ripped with older MM puts a link in the tag. So at some point I'll probably run the script on the rest of the library (the stuff I'm not re-ripping) just to get everything in a consistent format.

Thanks!
