Add currently playing song into music directory

Post by abhiroopb » Mon Mar 15, 2010 9:54 am

Let's say I play song X which is on a pen drive. Is it possible for it to be automatically added into my Music director (which is being monitored by MM)?

I would ideally like it to be automatically added using the same tags for files and folders I use for the "Auto-Organize" settings.

Move it only after playing it, automatically? No.

At what point can it be automatically organised into my folder?

As soon as it is detected in wrong folder by Tools -> options -> Library -> File Monitor and than organized using Tools -> options -> Library -> Auto-Organize

Yes, that's always a good idea ;)

I get external songs into my library by right-clicking the selected file(s) and choose "Auto-Organize-Files" [Ctrl+R].
There you can enter one or more patterns for the path and filename and MM moves the file to the desired location.
This way you only get what you really want.

Don't know if it's available in the free version.

Note that MM moves the files instead of making a copy.
This might easily pi** off the friend you got the pen-drive from ;)

I'm waiting for 4.0 to make my mind up. I'm a tiny bit of an audiophile and it seems that Foobar has better support. However, overall I prefer MM so I'm still on the fence regarding the licence.

Thanks for the right-click tip it seems to work in the free version.

Anyway I don't generally add that many songs just wanted to check if I was missing out on something!

Thanks again.

It just happened, that I am looking for a way to get WASAPI working on my Notebook, and i stumbled upon this thread:

DeathAxe said, there is no WASAPI-Plugin for MM, yet (it is planned for MM 4.0), but he gets way better sound using OpenAL.
(He links a Winamp plugin and the Runtime Environment below)

I didn't try it and probably never will. I just thought you might be interested in giving it a shot?
If not, nevermind ;)

Thanks, (if you can) would you mind giving me a basic translation? I know I could use google or something but when it comes to technical stuff it's sometimes not very clear!
