Does MM support 24 bit encoded files?

Post by sg60 »

I recently recorded a vinyl LP at 24/96 and I also downloaded a record from Lynn Records that was also encoded in 24 bit 96KHz. The one I recorded myself is in WAV format and the LINN download was FLAC. When I played the files rhrough my Cambridge Audio DACMagic it recognized the files at only a 48KHz sampling rate. I'm using a S/PDIF cable from the computer to the DAC which is supported by the DACMagic up to 96KHz. USB is only supported to 48KHz by the DACMagic. Since this is the first time I've tried this withh MM it got me to wondering whether MM supports files encoded at higher than 16 bits. Does anyone know?

It does. All the sweepers and interviews I do for my show are 24bit.

It's not really MM that's the question but rather the sound interface that MM is routing audio through that determines whether 24bit is supported.

OK, thanks. I thought the problem might be hardware related.
