MM4 crashes on start-up

Post by mjm »

Hello MM gurus!

Firstly, love your program. It flat-out rules, so well done, yay you guys and gals :)

Unfortunately it has not been loving me back since I upgraded to MM4

The problem occurs right after I launch the program: the splash screen appears, the tray icon materialises, and then... they both disappear, along with any trace of MM from the 'processes' tab of my task manager.

I've read through all of the forum posts by users with similar problems, and so have tried:

disabling the splash screen
running the debug version of MM (which yields the same result, thus I have no debug code to show you)
Peke's registry fix
renaming iphone.dll
removing the entire program and reinstalling it (multiple times)
begging, pleading and threatening my laptop

...but sadly this has all been to no avail.

My system:

Win7 64 bit, Intel i3 2.13 GHz processor, 4 gig RAM, 1 CD/DVD drive, 1 HDD (C:/), with MediaMonkey 4.0.2.1462 running as a full install

Any suggestions? Thanks heeeeeaps in advance!

Thanks so much for the speedy replies, I really appreciate the level of service around here! :)

Lowlander: the beta gave me the same result (a crash). However...

Peke: a portable installation into c:\mediamonkey worked! Brilliant! Thank you both so much!

I'm just scanning my library in now - I'll let you know if I encounter any further problems.

Thanks again! Yay! I shall have podcasts and tunes to listen to at work once again! :)
