Saving MM 4 Settings and Database

Post by formatc84 » Wed Mar 21, 2012 10:27 pm

I am having troubles with my computer and I want to do a full format/Reinstall of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and I was wondering how I can backup and transfer MM4's settings and all of the customizations so I don't have to reconfigure it to the way I had it. Also is it possible to get mediaMonkey installed and synced on two computers (I am constantly changing my playlists so I want them to be the same on both computers) Both computers are running Windows 7 X64

Thanks

It's not really possible to keep two PCs in sync with the same DB/settings because of the way the database works. It will expect your tracks to be on the same exact drive, so you'd have to update the database with the new drive information every time you sync'ed the DB which is sort of impractical.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7746&hilit=backup does not appear to have any way to access this script. Please advise.

"It's not really possible to keep two PCs in sync with the same DB/settings because of the way the database works." Retarded database.
"It will expect your tracks to be on the same exact drive." - And if you have the tracks on the "same exact drive(s)," why can't this work?

Is there a way to transfer the settings from one MM4 to another?

Go to trixmoto's site to download, link is in his signature.

MediaMonkey uses driveID, so if driveID is the same it will work, it if it is different it won't.

So you're going to swap the hard drive from one PC to another one? In that case you wouldn't need a second copy of the MM database, since it's already on the drive.
