Show your sound system

Post by Eyal »

This is my sound system.
My desk with my computer is in the living room (when I am most of the time) and set up like this:

Image
  • 2007.08.12: I recently added a pair of QX900S. so now I have a real 7.1 system setup. The sound is great! :P
  • 2009.03.15: I have upgraded my PC mb and CPU. Changed my connection to an 50' optical cable (Toslink). Now using MM 3.0 since a few months. Still satisfied :)
  • 2011.02 Another computer upgrade.

i can't show mine but
technices component system from the 1980's
mixed with pioneer components from the 1980's
connected to the dvd player and the cable tv and the vcr.

using speakers that came with the technices and two units i put together myself. which each unit i made has one 6 x 9 300 watts and on 10 or 12 inch sub woofer 150 watt digital wound coil in the sub woofer.
both are getting no more then 120 watts pumped through them.

the higher watts helps keeps them from popping and snapping.

thats what i here most the time. here on this xp i use the set of 5.1 speakers that came with the dell. (harman kardon)
but i added a set of cheap desktops for the rear speakers in the 5.1 system so all sound here is great.

unless i turn off the home unit and listen to the boom box in the garage.. :(

Mine's all Kenwood from mid-80's.

Receiver is KRV107R.
I forget the Kenwood model of the dual Dolby-C cassette.
I also forget the model of the Kenwood CD, but it's got a single drawer and a seperate 6 disk changer.
Speakers are Cerwin Vega AT-12's.

It does a heck of a job on Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture with digital cannon fire.

I also have older Digital Video Disk players, with 1000+ disks for that.

Wohahaha. I have 3 sound systems (that I use depending on the situation):
- the speakers on my Targa Visionary laptop
- the earphones of my iRiver H10
- 2 (stereo!) old "Multi Media Speaker Systems" speakers
obviously using the internal sound card.

:D I'm so happy with it :wink:

I have a logitech 5.1 system (x-500 i think) at home via pc and onboard realtek soundcard, my laptop + sennheiser HD-280 pro headphones, my kenwood car stereo with usb connect and thumb drive, and a couple cheapo flash mp3 players.

My regular stereo is older and too far away to bother wiring it up to my pc tho it sounds great hooked up to my tv & xbox+xmbc.

@Blake - you're picture made me laugh because I'm currently sat at a Dell Optiplex GX150 (my work machine) and to see a big picture of my computer right in front of my computer made me do a double take! :lol:

I've got the Dell Optiplex GX50 which looks like the GX260 but even slower.
USB Soundcard - Silversstone EB01
Amp - Harmen Kardon AVI 100 (about 10 years old now)
Speakers - Stereo, Unknown brand (Stole them from my dad years ago)

I have an oldish (late 90s) system, and although it still sounds great to me there are a number of upgrades I will make in the near future:

* 2x MBQuart QL1002S tower speakers (I only listen to stereo, so no surround speakers needed).

* Earthquake SuperNova MkV12 subwoofer
Image

* Yamaha DSP A3090 7.1ch amp (yeah, don't ask... silly choice when only utilising stereo output. Let's just say I had plans, but changed my mind.)
Image

* PC = 3GHz cpu, 2GB ram, dual 21" monitors
* Soundcard 1 = M-Audio Delta66 with Omni I/O break-out box (6in/6out - balanced + sends/returns + monitor channel)
* Soundcard 2 = Echo Audio AudioFire 4 (6in/6out - balanced)
Image Image

Oh, and I should mention the headphones (Sennheiser HD555's) since I use those about as much as the main's - I guess I'm a night-owl :)

I'll try to find the MB Quart speaker pics to add in shortly...
Also I'm getting new near-field monitors which will hook up with the AudioFire4.

I have a 2.1, and you probably think -oh crap, a 5w max plastic box-, but no. 2.1 is only the channel configuration.
I've got two 3-way Dream DX600 mini bookshelf's (175wRMS) and a slightly older home made sub woofer (2 8" Venom driver 100 watts each) running off a boss audio amp. The mains are running off an old AIWA system that has a separate preamp, tuner, and power amp.
It is hooked up to my computer setup, which is where I also listen to music, watch movies, play games, etc.

It provides surprisingly big sound. xD
