Post by dtsig »

Regardless number of users I have been getting a lot of "SQL too many connections" messages. For example I just spent the last couple of minutes trying to get to this message. It says I am the only user and 0 guests

Hi,
In some cases "SQL too many connections" error is caused by some badly written Index BOT script which manifest itself as "SQL too many connections" that can be normal SQL server response to DDOS calls or being classified as such. As a result like you pointed it can happen that few minutes pass till normal traffic re established.

We are monitoring such cases and actively working on prevention and system upgrade.

Forum SQL errors

Post by olivechicago »

I don't visit this forum on a daily or even weekly basis, so maybe this isn't all that new. Over the past week or so I'm often getting phpBB errors. I can screen cap if needed. Something about too many connections. Refreshing several times, I can usually continue using this site within a minute.

Just a heads up. I've never encountered this over the three or four years I've been a member here until recently

I see the same SQL error result occasionally too, accessing the website from Central Europe.

I got this two minutes ago (21:50 MEZ)

Code: Select all

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Too many connections [1040]

Any news on this yet as I'm constantly having to wait a few minute between opening pages.
I keep getting this error.

I have discovered that when this happens to me, if I go to the home MM web page and use the forum link there I am able to get right onto the forum page without any issue.

Hi,
Great, we changes some SQL server settings, limits and filters so it should be better.

Now we wait and collect statistics.
