Incorrect album art displayed in iPod.
Recently, I've noticed that when songs pop up on my iPod they often display art for completely unrelated albums. Any idea why this could be? Did I miss a setting somewhere?
(I currently have my album art saved to the album folders on my hard drive instead of in the tags.)

I've got the same problem with a Classic. Nearly all album art is in the folder, a couple of tracks do have embedded art but I just haven't got around to tracking it down and removing it.
When I first sync it's okay but even if I only replace a few songs (today I re-ripped 5 albums) all the artwork gets mixed up. Doing a full rebuild of the device database seems to make it even worse.
Just trying 3.02.1134. It failed to repair the database but am just doing a full sync - again!

ipod art
I wrestled with this for a while and figured it out.
First I have all of the art files embedded in my files.
next Never edit tracks within the ipod node, edit them in MM inside the artist, or album, or playlist, never the ipod node.
finally set a playlist for your ipod and auto sync it everytime. If you want to add or remove a song from the ipod, do it in the playlist node in MM, again not the ipod node.
I have an auto playlist based on ratings (anything over 3.5 stars gets added to the playlist). Then when I am listening to the ipod I can change the rating in the ipod, if i change it to 3 stars or lower, when I sync the Ipod it will update that tag, remove the song from the playlist, and then the ipod. You don't have to go that far though

Yes, but we don't.forya wrote:First I have all of the art files embedded in my files.
After the full database rebuild with the latest RC the only artwork that showed were the few albums that did have embedded art.

Re: ipod art
Why not just use Trix's script to embed the art that is in your folders.Kevinino wrote:Yes, but we don't.forya wrote:First I have all of the art files embedded in my files.
Seems that would solve the problem...
EDIT:
BTW, the link that I provided...
If you read Trix's first discription of the script, it sounds like it does the opposite of what I am suggesting.
AFAIK, it has been much modified to do what I suggested and more...
Unless someone corrects me.

Yeah drjboulder, I can confirm that it DOES do what you're saying (take linked album art and put it in the tags).drjboulder wrote:...

Not to introduce another issue, but I actually don't want any art to display on my iPod at all. I was able to do this previously by simply having all of it stored in the album folders instead of the tags.
It used to be that when I did a rebuild of the database, all the art would be removed from the iPod, which is what I wanted (I find that it makes choosing songs too slow). But recently it stopped doing this. So now I get some songs with no art, some songs with the correct art, and some songs with the wrong art. Very confusing indeed.
I'll try wiping the iPod and doing a new sync today.

Last time I tried that, iTunes said it didn't recognize my iPod and it needed to be reformatted.Kevinino wrote:If you dont want any art, then run ITunes and uncheck show album art.grayflannelsuit wrote:Not to introduce another issue, but I actually don't want any art to display on my iPod at all. I just went directly onto the iPod and deleted the files in the art folder.
