Does SYNC work with iOS 9.3?
Has anybody tried it yet?

I did last night and on a normal sync it looked ok to me. Phone appeared in MM 4.1.11.1783 and synced with no errors.

Sadly... it does not work here. I connected a brand new iPhone 6s with iOS9.3 and it does not appear.
Do I have to at least install iTunes to make it work?

OK, got it 
One really needs this crappy iTunes at least for some libs.

Working for me. I tried my iPad first to test it, that got stuck on "scanning" first try, but synced OK the second time. Took a deep breath, and then updated the iPhone. That synced OK no problems at all. I am using 4.1.12.1785.
