Confused by devices/IOS vers Supported

Post by riverboatsam »

I currently have an Ipod Classic, 5th Gen. - very happy with it & MM. However, I am about to buy a new car that will have Apple Car Play, and it does not support IPod Classics with the 32 pins (very unhappy about this). Consequently, I am thinking of biting the bullet and buying an IPhone 11 with lots of disk space (or maybe an IPod Touch Gen 7). However, the Wiki "Devices Supported" (which seems to be 14 years out of date) states that no Iphones beyond 6 or Ipod touch beyond 5 are supported, and no IOS versions that have come out in the last several years. Yet I see people discussing odd problems they have had using IOS 14, and at least one instance of an IPod 12. So...before I sink big bucks into a Iphone 11 or Ipod touch/7, (all IOS 14.?) I'd like to verify if either or both will or will not work with the latest MM. Thanks, and I apologize if that info is disturbingly in front of my nose.
