Post by rusty » Mon Feb 19, 2007 10:01 am

Hi,

In case anyone is interested in MS-Access like tools for the sqlite db, a bunch of tools are listed at:
http://www.sqlite.org/cvstrac/wiki/wiki ... ementTools

If you like/dislike any of them, please share your experiences here.

I just found this Firefox extension called SQLite Manager, which is very interesting.
I was able to make some quick edits in my MM.db with it. Works a treat!

I tried many of those tools (> 10), even commercial ones, and I found SQLite Spy most suitable to me. It is very fast, regularly updated and even supports some newer SQLite commands (e.g. zeroblob) which many other tools don't support. Most of all, it is free for personal and educational use:

Ditto for SQLite Spy. It doesn't require installation: just unzip and run the exe, and you've got all you need for editing the MM.DB file.

Can someone help me out with SQLite Spy, I am trying to remove some of the items from the lists table that no longer have any data associated with it, but I cannot figure out how to delete the record in SQLite Spy?

Well, this is not user-friendly, but you could use SQL query like this:

Code: Select all

DELETE FROM Lists WHERE ID = xx
For more records:

Code: Select all

DELETE FROM Lists WHERE ID IN (xx, yy, ...)
Please be careful, there is not a confirmation dialog! Make a backup first!

Just wanted to confirm that I also found sqlite spy the easiest to use. I couldn't get sqlite manager to work.
