Magic Nodes 4.2 w/ 380 masks & real GUI (2011-07-01)[MM2+]
Re: Wish List
Thank you for the update on the next version. I have many nodes which I
create playslists from. To do that individually would be very tedious, and I was hoping for something
like a group export.

Re: Wish List
Nice idea, but where you want to store those playlists and under which filenames? If all tracks from some playlist are from a single folder, a playlist file could be saved automatically to the same folder without any question and additional dialog box. But what if you have a playlist with tracks from many folders? In such case you need to specify a filename for each playlist and this would be tedious as well.tableguy wrote:I have many nodes which I

Re: Wish List
What I am doing is tagging the files with a sub-genre in the Custom field of the property box. Then I create a MagicNode mask and they get sorted in MN tree:
Album Rock
British Blues
Hard Rock
and so..
in each node I get all the tracks that are Album, British... in the Track Browser. Then I create a playlist from that listing. I was hoping a script could take the name of
Node and the tracks in Browser and create a playlist or M3U. I currently have 100G's, 20,000 tracks, and 2000 folders on a networked drive.

You could try the new version of this script (1.8). It has added Random argument for Sort order qualifier (among other things).raybeau528 wrote:is there a way to have the resultant output sorted in a random order rather than ascending or descending.

Re: Mod. Magic Nodes 1.8 w/ 50 masks (2008-11-08) [MM2+3]
I can't get this to run. Using MediaMonkey 3.0.6.1190, version 1.8 of Magic Nodes, on WinXP SP3.
I install using the mmip, restart MediaMonkey, but it loads the splash screen, then quits without any error messages. This happens with the skin and non-skinned versions, and also occurs when I remove all scripts from Scripts\Auto other than MN. Problem persists even with antivirus (Eset Smart Security) disabled.
On removal of MN, MediaMonkey will function correctly.
EDIT: After some fiddling, versions 1.4.3.1, 1.5.0.2, and 1.6.2.4 do not do this. It is from 1.7.7 upwards that this problem occurs. DX
Well, I'll just use 1.6.2.4 -_-;;

If you got to MediaMonkey/Scripts/Auto and delete the two MagicNodes files and then run the mmip, do you still have the same problem?

Re: Mod. Magic Nodes 1.8 w/ 50 masks (2008-11-08) [MM2+3]
Detailed investigation with a help of Kanzar indicate that there is a bug in MM itself with some of its IniFile functions (Keys, StringValue...). This bug could manifest with MN script during start-up in some very rarely situations if you have turned off the option "Skip expanding of the Magic Nodes branch during start-up". If you have same problem like Kanzar, please try to set the SkipExpandOnStartUp option to 1 in the MagicNodes section of the MediaMonkey.ini file before MM start.
I'll report this bug to MM developers.

Re: Mod. Magic Nodes 1.8 w/ 50 masks (2008-11-08) [MM2+3]
I was about to report the same error as Kanzar.
I can't attempt your fix as I don't have a MediaMonkey.ini file.
Edit: I found it, I was looking in the wrong place.
It seems to have worked.

Re: Mod. Magic Nodes 1.8 w/ 50 masks (2008-11-08) [MM2+3]
I am trying to set up a "Top 20" node with my top 20 most played songs, artists, and albums. I got the songs down, but when I expanded it, it looked like this:
For reference, the node:
I can't seem to create an icon: qualifier for the "played" sub-section. Any thoughts/suggestions from anyone? Thanks a ton!
As a side-note (working on figuring this out for myself), when I try this with "Artist," it breaks them down, such that if I played Beyonce - Ego 2 times and Beyonce - Halo 3 times, she is in two separate nodes (the 2 times and 3 times node). I'd like it to just show that I played Beyonce 5 times (YES, I kinda like Beyonce ). I tried sum(played), but couldn't get it to work. That is not as confusing of an issue to me as the black boxes are, though, lol.
For reference, the node:
Code: Select all
<Group|name:Play Counts|icon:43|child of:Library>\Songs|icon:7\<played|sort order:desc|top:20>\<Title>

Re: Mod. Magic Nodes 1.8 w/ 50 masks (2008-11-08) [MM2+3]
Yeah, the Icon qualifier could be used on the global and group levels, but not on the local (field) levels. Those black boxes are only with MM 3.x version, but MM 2.x had nice icon number 8 with a picture of playback button (http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... rces#Icons). The icon number 7 is not practical for the Played field since it is already using with the Genre field and its use for both fields could be confusing. What do you think about the icon number 40 (Now Playing (note + speaker))? It could be used for Played field just fine since it is not already reserved for any other MN field. However, if you want to experiment with different icons for local node levels, you could modify the script by yourself - near to its begin (765 line) is a IconDict collection with a icon definitions for local levels.shemait wrote:I can't seem to create an icon: qualifier for the "played" sub-section.
Well, grouping are organized by tracks, not by sub-items, but I agree that your suggestion is very interesting. Maybe I could add something like this into some future version of the script, since there is already implemented similar thing in my working version.shemait wrote:when I try this with "Artist," it breaks them down, such that if I played Beyonce - Ego 2 times and Beyonce - Halo 3 times, she is in two separate nodes (the 2 times and 3 times node). Re: Mod. Magic Nodes 1.8 w/ 50 masks (2008-11-08) [MM2+3]
Well, I went in and changed the IconDict value, and that fixed it. Icon #8, what a joke!
I am kinda bummed about not being able to make a true "Top 20" node, because although I know there is another script for that, it's not as customizable!
And I actually kind of chose the icon 7 randomly for the "Songs" node, as I was just experimenting and trying my hand at making the nodes I wanted. Once I figure all the sub-nodes out, I'll assign them more meaningful and distinct icons. For now, I am just trying to get a grip on the different fields and qualifiers, etc.
I have read through this whole thread, and appreciate all the help you've given throughout it! You've definitely answered questions I didn't even know I had.

Wow!!!! I have not used MN for quite some time due my lack of sql knowledge, but the new GUI may just tempt me to give it a try again. This looks really impressive.
