As for mmStations. I hadn't noticed anything truncated before but will look into it. I'm assuming you installed the latest package (mmStations.mmip) ? It should be version 2.4.

Regarding mmStations not working for you. Can you edit the mediamonkey.ini file found here:

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\MediaMonkey

look for [mmStations] and post from there down to the next bracketed section [..]. You can edit it with notepad or other text editor. It should look something like this:

You could also just delete the mmstations section in the file and try re-running MM. Since nothing is being saved you won't lose anything. Let me know the results or if you need more help with these instructions.

Here's what I've done so far.

First I closed MM and then deleted the mmStations section from MediaMonkey.ini. Then I restarted MM and, in Options, tried to assign playlists to the Stations, give the Stations names and check the auto-start box. The behavior was the same as before:- The names appear on the buttons but when I click on the button it says "playlist not assigned". When I open Options, all the settings I made before have disappeared, including the checkbox selection. When I restart MM, the names on the buttons have disappeared.

What I found in mediamonkey.ini, however, is that the playlist names are being saved OK. But the button names are deleting themselves. I only assigned two playlists/names this time. Here it is:

So then, with MM closed, I edited MediaMonkey.ini as follows

In other words I added in the names for the Stations and I asked it to auto-start.

When I open MM now, it does auto-start and the names of the Stations appear correctly. However, clicking the Station still says "not assigned" and in the Options, no playlist names appear even though they are in the ini file. The auto-start checkbox in Options is also correctly checked as it should be.

As you can see, one of the playlists is in the root playlist node, and one is in a sub-node. Neither are auto-playlists, but it doesn't work with auto-playlists either.

Thanks for your help, I hope we can get it sorted out. I must say, MM3.1 has been a disaster so far! (Not a complete disaster because I am using it - and AFAIK I haven't lost any data.)

3.1 has changed the way ini values are stored, here is a solution which Bex gave me to update his scripts for the new method. You could try this to see if it fixes your problems. I did not run into the problem because my values were stored prior to moving to 3.1. Since MM3 is using 3.1 for the first time, this may be why he/she (no offense MM3, I do not know your gender) is having the problem:

Just to clarify. In MM3.1 scripters can't really anymore use:

Set INI    = SDB.IniFile

Rather always use the full object Instead without any variables. e.g.

SDB.IniFile.StringValue("x", "y") = "z"

My solution is only valid in scripts where "Set INI = SDB.IniFile" has been used. Which actually this script has used!

Thanks for your help! I was not aware of this change with scripting. I'm also only running 3.0.4.1185, not 3.1. I'll download the latest and see if that's the problem....but you're not seeing this problem, are you?

I am not seeing the problem because my values were copied over from 3.0 and I have not changed any of my stations since moving to 3.1, but I will try changing some to see if the changes are committed to the ini.

EDIT: Nope the changes are not being saved....

Raybeau, I see what Nyn means: she and other people already had mmStations installed before they upgraded to MM3.1. I have only just seen your (neat little) script so my first mmStations install was in 3.1 not 3.0 - and that's why I'm having problems.

I'll either grab your download or change my script file now.

BTW, you didn't change the thread title to V2.4 last time.

Once I made the ini. changes to the script and rebooted my changes are being committed to the ini file. As I stated earlier because I had not made any changes to any of my stations I was not seeing the errors but as soon as I tried to make any changes, the changes were not being saved.

Ok, then, it does sound like 3.1 is where the issue arises. I installed the latest non-beta and it worked fine. I deleted the mmStations section out of the ini file and it still ran fine. I'll download 3.1 and try it before making the ini changes so I can verify for myself that fixes it. Probably later this weekend.

FYI, the ini behavior will return to the previous one in build 1205. I.e. you don't need to fix it when it's out!

New minor version 2.5 is available in the first post which fixes the ini problem and truncation in the options panel. Also made the vertical layout and auto start the defaults. Please let me know if you have any issues with this version. I tested with both 3.1 and the latest released version 3.06.1190. The ini problem did indeed manifest itself in 3.1 and the suggested fix to replace ini with SDB.IniFile worked. Thanks for that pointer!
