Ok:

I had deleted one but because I had not restarted MM yet it there must have been some residue left behind, which was confusing Stations. I am all set now.

When installing i get the following error...

Error happened during script execution.
Object doesn't support this property or method: 'SDB.IniFile.flush.

That's a shame, because this is what i needed to play 3 songs from each genre..

Hi Nyn,

I run v 3.0.7.1191 but i put a ' in front of all the SDB.IniFile.flush in the vbs, and it seems to be ok now...

But i seen the following problem...

I selected 3 songs of a genre , now i have this...

France; Ballad
France; Ballad
France; Ballad
Pop;Ballad
Pop;Ballad
Pop;Ballad

I didn't select France or Pop.

So it's playing 6 Ballads after eachother...

Ok:

I think you will have to wait for Ray to give you an intelligent answer as to the error and why the selections were chosen. I do not use PlayTwo enough to offer you any sound advice. Sorry.

Ray

Thanks for a great script. Would it be possible to control the number of tracks output to the PlayTwo playlists. The playlists that i'm using as input have 5000+ tracks.

Regards
David

Koro, what what options are set and what was in the selection? Is "France; Ballad" the contents of genre? I'll have to check if the script handles multi-genre's correctly.

Davo,

Are you asking to limit the output tracks by Tracks, Minutes, MBytes, similar to the options in an Auto Playlist?

Yes, it would be good if that could be available in the Option setup. I generally only use tracks in the "Autoplaylist options but i guess minutes & m/bytes might come in handy.

Hi ray,

Tnx for replying to my call...

This are the genres wich i have in my playlist, wich i want to use for your script.

Disco, Ballad, Disco Nouveau, Rock & Roll, Swing

I have a lot of this songs wich have a multiple genre.

My options in setup.
Pared tracks based on GENRE
Randon Order ON
3 Songs per set
Include non paired ON
Add tracks to now playing ON

This is a little piece of the generated playlist

Kool & The Gang Joanna Ballad
Charlene I've Never Been To Me Ballad
Racing Cars They Shoot Horces Don't They Ballad
Shep & The Limelites Remember Baby Oldies; Ballad
June Valli Apple Green Oldies; Ballad
Aretha Franklin (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman Oldies; Ballad

So as you can see, the playlist is now playing 6 Ballads after eachother.

I tried also with 2 trcks , and that seems to bet better.

There's also a place where the script selected 6 disco genres after eachother, but the last 3 of it are genre Disco;Swing.

So this could be correct because the first 3 of that 6 are disco only.

Tnx..

Koro,

Can you try it with "Include Non-Paired Tracks" Off and see if that gives you the results you're looking for?

Also, in your example, it's not really 6 ballads in a row, it's 3 ballads followed by 3 "oldies;ballads" . The script doesn't parse the multi-items of the genre field - it treats the contents of the field as a single string. So "Ballad" is unique from "Oldies;Ballad".

The question then is, how would you expect the multi-item genre to work? You need to be very explicit with examples.

ie, given this track : June Valli Apple Green Oldies; Ballad
would you expect the track "June Valli Apple Green" to show up in both genre's? oldies and ballad? Or in Oldies but not in Ballads?

Hi Ray,

Tnx for the reply...

I used a auto playlist to select the genres i needed... the genre Oldies was NOT one of them, but they where selected because they are ballad also.

I understand the script doesn't know wich genres i had selected in the starting autoplaylist...

I tried to unselect 'Include Non Paired traccks' but i see no difference.

The thing i see is that the songs divided by 3 genres, but in a lot of the 3 selected songs it's the same artist...

Like 3 times 'Johnny & The Hurricanes' on rock & roll... in one group of genre.

Do you know how to burn the 3 by 3 genres to a DVD as MP3? if i burn them with MM they are on alphabetical order on the disc.

Sorry for my broken English, but my motherlanguage is dutch...

Koro,

Here's what I suggest - create a standard playlist (not auto playlist) and select a set of tracks (10?) to use as a test. When you use an auto playlist, it's possible and probable that each time you invoke it you'll get a different set of tracks so with a standard playlist your tests will use the same tracks. Make sure you have several different genres in your selection as well as some multi-item genre tracks. Run the script and post your results.
The thing i see is that the songs divided by 3 genres, but in a lot of the 3 selected songs it's the same artist...
That's probably expected...if I have a blues genre I will probably get multiple tracks by the same artist.

I rarely burn CD's anymore but a data disk in windows will be displayed alphabetically just like any disk folder. You might want to ask more about this in the general help forum.

Hi Ray,

I did the test with 9 songs of each genre.
I selected only songs with only one genre (not with semicolon), and putted them into a playlist.

It seems to be OK with this test, some artists are twice in the row of three.

I think it has to do with the multiple genres.

Did you see my post about :
When installing i get the following error...

That's the nature of 'random'.
Object doesn't support this property or method: 'SDB.IniFile.flush.
Disabling that is just fine. Developers put that in 3.1 as a workaround to the ini file not getting updated correctly.
