PlayList Builder V1-5
PlayList Builder is loosely based on this request: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... &sk=t&sd=a
PlayList Builder allows you to select tracks from any node, playlist, trackwindow, and now playing window and add them to a pre-defined (in options) playlist. The playlist can be randomized, sorted, or left as is and is then split into sub-playlists by the number of tracks set in options. Check Make Unique Sub-Playlists in options and the sub-playlists
will not re-use tracks from the main playlist when they are re-built.
To select tracks, right-click on a node, playlist, or selection from tracks window or now playing window and click
PlayList Builder. You are presented with these 3 options:
- Add Selection
Adds the selected tracks, minus any duplicates, to the output playlist then rebuilds the sub playlists
- Clear Playlist
deletes all tracks from the output playlist then adds selected tracks and rebuilds sub playlists
- Build Sub-Playlists
Just rebuilds the playlist. Useful when you change options (sort, random, number of tracks, etc)
Tools/Options/PlayListBuilder settings are:
- Sort,Random,no sort
- Number of tracks per sub set
- Maximum Sets Created - 0 equals unlimited
- Output Playlist name
- Make Unique Sub-Playlists
A V1-6 installation package is available here: http://www.mediafire.com/?yugmnlmiw1y
All comments are welcomed.

Once again you've created one that appears to be very interesting. However, you know I am going to have a request. Is there a way to set an option to limit the number of subsets to be created? And if so, once the number of subsets are created it could just ignore the remaining tracks from the original group.

Eyal,
Yes, 3.1 for this version but I'll remove the 3.1 only code and repost since it was only introduced in 3.1 to fix a bug introduced in 3.1.
Nyn,
Tell me more, especially why you would want that and why you can't get the same end result with it as it is.

I like the concept because it would allow me to create two random playlists (which I rarely use) in order to sync to my two portable players or fot that matter use in Stations. Which means if I start with a group of 1000 tracks and have the option limited to a random selection of 100, I do not want to have to scroll through 10 lists in order to pick two. I would rather just have it limited to two playlists. As you know from Stations I already have too many playlists so I would rather avoid complicating my db more than necessary. And since I export my playlists daily, they would begin to take up a lot of space. BTW, I anticipate that using nodes as the starting point will be the primary use I get out of this since most of my playlists are too specific for this purpose, and no I do not want to add more autoplaylists to my ever growing list. I have a lot of custom nodes that would serve this purpose very well.

Eyal,
If you re-download the install package it should work with pre 3.1 mm.
Nyn,
I will certainly consider your request.
As a work around:
- Always pick the first two! They will be just as random and unique
- Use the rebuild option and again just pick the first two (see above)
- delete the remaining playlists (3-10) it won't affect the top level

V1-1 is available. Adds option to limit the number of sets (sub-playlists) created. Set to 0 (default) for unlimited.

Re: PlayList Builder V1-1
Looks like a great script. Is there a way that it can take one song by an artist and then select random tracks from the same artist to be in the playlist?

Use the Artist node to create the playlist.

Ray:
While testing sakurakessho's request I used an artist that did not have 100 tracks, the playlists were created but they were created empty. I am assuming this is because there was not enough tracks to build the playlists? Should it fill the first playlist up until it reaches the max?

Re: PlayList Builder V1-1
hmm, yes, it should fill what it can. I'll see if I can replicate the problem.

Re: PlayList Builder V1-1
Nyn, I can't replicate the problem. I've tried all/most combinations of setting Maximum Sets and tracks and it all seems to work as expected. There are 'empty' playlists that exists if the playlist was expanded when you invoke Playlist Builder. If you collapse the playlist and then expand it are those empty playlists still there?

Re: PlayList Builder V1-1
No, they're not, I think that is it because I do not remember if I closed and then re-expanded.
