Re: Last.fm Scrobbler help

Post by JCfantasy23 »

The log file seems okay from the looks of it, just last done on 7/22 and will not update anymore. I went ahead and redid my username and password, cleared all submission rules again (right now nothing is excluded), and have disabled and then renabled the submission rules a few times. Will restart MediaMonkey now and see. Still not working, the log file never changes

Here is the log file in case you see something strange:

What should clear cache do? Should it empty the log file?

No, it clears the cache file. The cache file is a backup of what tracks have been scrobbled if, for example, you are trying to scrobble but have no internet connection.

The log looks like it is working to me. You may want to try clearing the Cache, enable the showing of Now Playing tracks to friends and close MediaMonkey. Check the Task Manager no instances of MediaMonkey remain running. Then start MediaMonkey and play some tracks. Keep an eye on your last.fm profile and see if it shows the Now Playing track and/or the played tracks once they've finished playing.

If that fails I suggest you capture the playing of files in a debug log (step 4b) and send it together with the last.fm log and cache files to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=69

PS. Although I don't think it matters, but MediaMonkey 4.0.6 is the latest release.

My scrobbler is only updating Last.fm after the song finishes...is that expected behavior or is this a bug? Other Last.fm scrobblers seem to update in real-time as the song is playing.

Edit: For that matter, it only uploaded the first song I played since installing the Scrobbler. None of the songs after that are showing up on Last.fm

That's expected. To see what is currently playing you need to enable the option in the last.fm service settings in the MediaMonkey option.

When trying to scroble my music in the cache mode, everything is normal, but when i got songs with Unicode tags ( Japanese, Chinese and all non-latin characters ), they are written to the cache file as ?????? and when i activate the normal mode ( the green button ) they are submitted to last.fm as ?????????? too.

i think this is a problem of the plugin since i got ??? in the cache data file too, is there any solution ? or are u working on that for future ? please help me :(

I thought I would give this a try -- since the last time I got MM to work on Last.fm, I didn't do anything and started on it's own months later.

A year or so ago, I upgraded MM and couldn't get Last.fm to work. I gave up on it and, somehow, one day it started suddenly working, and has been for several months.

A few days ago, I decided I wanted my Ipod to get scrobbled, so I reluctantly downloaded ITunes as a secondary media player. I later found out that it's practically impossible to get Last.fm to scrob an Ipod, so I deleted ITunes again.

MM worked on Last.fm for a few couple of days after that, then it suddenly stopped scrobbing. I've downloaded the newest Last.fm update and plug-in, and the newest MM update and still can't get Last.fm to scrobb what I play on MM.

One thing that confuses me, is when I'm on the Last.fm set-up wizard, and go to add the plug-in, I select "foobar 2000 0.9.4" and I hit "Browse", I don't know what to click on. I've tried everything in the file. The most familiar is the MM.exe, but that obviously doesn't work. What do I try now?

Aside from install it, is there anything else I need to do to get it to work? Apologies if this has been covered!

Installed ok, but nothing, not a dickie bird

I'm assuming I'm missing something!

Could you compile another instance of this great plugin with turtle.libre.fm as scrobbling server?
It will be not so hard I hope and make nice addition to MM features.

Hi there,

I am quite new here and using MM 4.0.7 and Last.FMS crobbler 1.0.2.29. I got the similar problem as mentioned before in this thread.
I am using MM as a portable installation on Windows 7 Premium Home/64bit

- After installation of the plugin, MM asks me for a restart.
- While restarting I get an Initialization Error for the MM Media Player.
- MM will finish to start (after accepting the error) but the Media Player will be gone
- When I try to change settings I get an access violation
- After deinstalling the plugin everything works fine again
- Installing the native Last.FM Scrobbler from their page won't work either

Any Ideas? I am not able to post any logs, because Settings dialog won't work while the plugin is installed.

Regards,
Thomas

1. Install normal version (not portable)
2. Remove normal version folder from location
3. Install portable version in the same folder
=)
