Connect to/utilize Google Play music library?

Post by warreni »

Hey,

I'm experimenting with the new Android beta, but I don't really store music on my Nexus 7 for capacity reasons; is there a way to or are there plans to allow the app to access your Google Play music library?

We plan to provide access to cloud services, but not in the initial release.

Do you have a timeline on this? I have a new laptop with media files strews over 4 external hard drives taken from older dead laptops. I'm in the process of uploading everything to Google Play.

I take it that to use MM I'll have to download everything first. This is still the best method of getting files consolidated and organized, I think, but if it were a matter of waiting a short while I might hold off to avoid sync/dupe issues down the line.

I presume it may still be a while as the initial release is still being worked on.

This is very interesting to me as well.
I'm addicted to MediaMonkey and tried to export M3U playlists into Windows Media Player but Google Music Manager with no luck.
Is there some way to directly hook MM playlists to Google Music?

Thanks

emagin,

When you perform a Wi-Fi sync between MMW/MMA, the Google Play music app should see the playlists--but I'm not sure if that's what you're asking.

I'm fairly sure the request is about connecting MMA with Google Play Music for cloud streaming.

Yes, my query is as follows:
MM is a music manager / player
Google Music is a cloud service

Why does the manager not talk to the cloud directly?
Windows Media Manager should have nothing to do with this.
What allows WMM to hook into the GMusic API and why can't MM do the same?

Scenario:
To take all my songs marked with Rating >= 3 and set up for sync with GMusic
GMusic has no filtering capabilities at this level, it's folder based only at the moment.
MM has all the filtering I need, but no hooks into GMusic

Wif sync ?? Not sure what that is.
I have tried exporting playlists from MM directly to WMP (Windows Media Player) in Win8. No go for me it won't sync those up with GMusic

I used MMW to iTunes (via the iTunes plugin) and the iTunes to Google Music to do this.

I, for one, have dumped iTunes for good. I'd like to be able to use MMW as my Desktop Media Manager/Player and Google Play Music for my Android player and Cloud archive. It would be ideal to be able to create a playlist in MMW and have it sync across to Google Play Music.

Is streaming from a cloud service still being worked on? My Office 365 subscription now includes 1TeraByte of OneDrive space. So I've uploaded my music library to OneDrive and it would be great if MediaMonkey could stream music directly from OneDrive (or DropBox, Google Drive, etc.) In the cloud is my whole music library while on my Android device there is limited space for music.

The ability to stream or sync with Google Drive or another similar cloud service would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks, guys.

Yep, can only agree to this!

Would add a whole other utility to the program.
