WiFi sync battery drain

Post by westi2002 »

After doing a sync via WiFi, MMA stays active in the background and drains my battery completely in 5-6h.
Only forcing MMA to stop after a sync helps. I'm using 1.3.8.0916 Pro on a Galaxy S9 with android 10.

Can you send a debug log after a couple minutes from MMA and reply here with the logID.

From About in MMA (from menu) you can send a log.

Hi,
after wifi sync is done, MMA has to pair media with a System media library.
It can take some time, but I can see in your last log that MMA paired 849 tracks in 54s, and then no MMA service was running for 40 minutes.
After the break, there are three minutes of standard MMA activity (MMA was launched).
So, nothing curious in the log, unfortunately.
If there will be anything suspicious in the future, send the log again.

Thanks.

Just id a new sync. Same effect, battery usage 6,9% in 1h while not using application.

I made screenshots before sync, after sync and after 1h, so I can send you those as well.

I can confirm this issue. It is definitely happening to me as well. I sync every Sunday and only on Sunday evenings late my phone is down to 20% battery capacity or less. Other days it's 40% and up at the end of the day.

MMA is eating battery juice in the background but only after a sync. A workaround is to simply force stop MMA. After a restart the problem is gone.

MMA 1.3.8.0916 (Pro version installed)

Hi westi2002,
thanks for logs, it seems that maybe BackgroundProcessService is still running, but I need more detail log.
Do you think that you can become a beta tester via "Register for test builds" in About MediaMonkey dialog to get the newest beta build?
And then send me new log when the issue occurs.
Thanks!

This beta version is even worse. Yesterday I performed a wifi sync, terminated MMA as usual. Today I connected via bluetooth in my car and now I saw that MMA used 18% of battery in approx 1h15.
After disconnecting from my car 1h15 ago, I didn't use MMA anymore.
