New Forum look [#17803]

Post by pushpull »

It had been a while since I popped in here. Been too busy with other things. I was stunned by the new look, and I thought at first there was something wrong with my Firefox browser. But no. While I appreciate the effort that goes into updating this forum, as well as the work on MM, I think the mark has been missed and form is dominating the function. The main issue is the lack of contrast with the text. It is very difficult to read, so in that regard it fails at the main goal, which is communication. Not everyone that comes here will have the unfailing eyesight of youth. I wish I did, but if wishes were horses..... Just my two cents, without ill intent.

Hi pushpull.

I don't like it either, but I wasn't going to mention it until you created this thread.
It's too bright on my eyes. Especially with a big monitor. It lights up the whole room.

The ability to change it would be nice.

Hi,
What do you say about making MM site User Friendly per User System/Browser choice?

Eg. something like this https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/doc ... lor-scheme ?

That might be OK, Peke.
I wouldn't know for certain until I saw what it looked like.

Hi,
https://duckduckgo.com/ support that here is how it works:
1. Open Edge and in Settings set it to Light theme
2. Open https://duckduckgo.com/ and it will be white
3. Change Option to dark theme
4. Refresh https://duckduckgo.com/ and it should be dark themed

Hello, I'm sorry about the issue! I think adding a dark theme is a good idea, but it'll take a while before I have time to make it work.
In the meantime, so far, I've changed the text in the forum body and titles to have higher contrast (Black instead of dark gray). Is it an improvement?

Btw: You might like to check out this Chrome extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... hnkhdbieeh
It automatically changes websites' colors to give them a dark theme. You can turn it on or off depending on the site. It's not perfect, but in the meantime before we can make a dark theme work properly, this may help.

I uploaded many addons to MM's addon page, but not all of those were created by me. "By drakinite, Submitted by drakinite" means I made it on my own time. "By Ventis Media, Inc., Submitted by drakinite" means it may have been made by me or another MediaMonkey developer, so instead of crediting/thanking me, please thank the team. You can still ask me for support on any of our addons.
