No takeover of covers for music albums or videos MM 5.0.1.2402 [#17874]

Post by Mainzer1964 »

I'm trying to do a cover for a television series. I go to the image search via "Properties" "Image". Here I mark a picture for adoption. Then I press "Apply". "Add cover" appears. Then I press "ok". But the picture is not taken over. This happens with music albums as well as with videos. In the previous versions this always worked flawlessly.

Can you please detail with what you mean by taken over? If you return to Properties is the new Artwork not showing? If it is showing there are you saying it isn't showing in the Filelisting?

So Properties > Artwork doesn't show the Artwork you just changed? If so are the files you're editing on the PC or stored elsewhere, do any other tag changes fail too, how are you saving (embedding/external) the Artwork and do the files play in MediaMonkey?

My files are saved as follows: My music on an internal hard drive. My films on an external hard drive that is connected to a router via USB. The covers of music or films are saved in the files' folders. Other tags are saved. It's a shame that I can't upload any pictures or films here. I would like to show it. It is difficult to explain this in words.

What I did now: I deleted the folders for the television series (with 11 seasons, each season in its own folder) from MM's library. Then I took over the folders back into MM using the "New to archive" function. Since the jpg was contained in the overall folder of the series when it was restored to the library, it is now also displayed in MM. I guess this is not the desired way to use a picture as a cover. But that worked now. It's very complicated and cumbersome. I hope you can understand what I am writing here. In previous versions of MM5, this all worked wonderfully.

And you used MediaMonkey to add the cover jpg to the folder? If added to the folder outside of MediaMonkey you just need to rescan (without removing).

Also are you sure you're not adding covers to files from the DLNA Server on the Router instead of the File Server? You can't edit files from a DLNA Server (it's a streaming only protocol).

I usually add the cover jpgs with MM because that's actually a really great feature. No, I have covers that I own on my PC in a folder on the desktop.

Does simply rescanning existing files not add the Artworks from the folders (as it does when scanning files in new)?

No, because MM does not save the jpg either in the folder or in the tag. When I repeat the search, there is no jpg left.

In MediaMonkey after adding Artwork does it still show on Properties > Artwork? Hover over the Artwork and the tooltip will tell where the Artwork is stored.

Thanks so much for the video, that clearly showed the problem and the problem is that Artwork doesn't associate via Browse: https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=17874

After you added the Artwork to file's folder you didn't rescan that folder. That would be required for MediaMonkey to automatically pickup the Artwork: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... work_Files
