your library is being upgrade to the latest version

Post by simonch101 »

24 hours? and still going !?!

HELP
Gold lifetime membership and upgraded about 10 days ago, suddenly, after a week I cant use MM5
I run a small hospital radio station and use MM to maintain our files and info.
I have a few files (89k a few weeks ago due to sound samples, government adverts and music)
we are struggling to access our studios due to the virus and now cant sort files as well as I would like.

I have tried reinstalling, installing older MM5
still have 4, but 5 is much smother and faster for some items... please help

Do you still have the MediaMonkey 4 database and/or a backup of the MediaMonkey 5 database?

In that case it shouldn't be a problem to close MediaMonkey (from Task Manager if necessary).

Which build of MediaMonkey 5 are you currently on? Are you experiencing this with build 2405: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 86639&sd=d It may be this issue: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... -are-lost/ that caused the problem.

Many many thanks for your help.

I do not a backup of MM5 database as I stupidly assumed that the install process had made a start point for me (DOH!!!) and also on Windows 10 cannot find the MM4 database I know should be there as I made one before starting MM5 upgrade.

I don't use any form of C-cleaner type item, never trusted one since about '95 when I was invaded by a virus on an old computer.

MM5 versions I have tried are 2404, 2402, 2401, 2337, 2336 and even 2262_debug to no avail, every time I run MM5 it goes straight to the update page.

I am at a loss and guess its back to MM4 until an update comes along

Hi,
Can you please try this:
1. Install MM5 as Portable to c:\MM5Temp (Do not start it apron installation)
2. Copy Backup of MM4 MM.DB to c:\MM5Temp\Portable\ and Name it MM5.DB
3. Start c:\MM5Temp\MediaMonkey.exe (Say NO to import MM4 settings and Library)

All should be ok
Best regards,

Search for mm.db on your PC (include hidden files) in File Explorer to find the MediaMonkey 4 database.

For MediaMonkey 5 the database is mm5.db.
