IPod - unable to see in MMW5?

Post by weecelt »

MM5 does not show the contents of my ipod automatically. Get a button/display at bottom of screen that says 'IPod connected Configure'. When I click on the Configfure button nothing happens other than the message disappears.

Still have MMW4 on my laptop and that still OK with IPod.

Are you saying that you can't configure the options for the iPod under Devices & Services in the Media Tree or that you can't browse files on the iPod using MediaMonkey?

Which model iPod and exact version (Help > About) of MediaMonkey and iTunes (if installed) are you using?

I think that you might be having the same problem that I have (iPod Touch Gen 7). You need to have iTunes installed on your PC in order to access your iPod for Sync purposes, to view, etc.

See: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... atibility/

Found this out the hard way when I deleted iTunes after transferring all my music to my iPod using MMW5 (while iTunes was still installed). After transferring all my music to from MM5 to my iPod, I deleted iTunes as planned. Had to reinstall iTunes in order to Sync, etc. It seems that MM is aware of the problem (new firmware in iPod) and they are working on it.

Really bummed me out since I was trying to get rid of all Apple software and go with MM. :(

If you know of a workaround or other solution to this, let us know :)

Although iTunes components are needed, not all of iTunes needs to be installed: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... ut-itunes/ or with CopyTransDrivers: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... Pod.2FiPad

Lowlander,

Forgot to thank you for the solution, I was able to retain just the drivers needed and uninstall iTunes and associated programs.

Thanks again :D
