organize by date before album name

Post by sn0skier » Wed Dec 05, 2007 1:14 am

This Forum gave me a great idea:

you should be able to change what order fields are analyzed when you click a header to organize your tracks.
For instance, when I click "artist" the library is organized "artist THEN album THEN track# THEN title." I want it organized "artist THEN date THEN album THEN track# THEN title."

last.fm signatures don't work anymore, which is sad. Any easy replacement?

I'll second this request - we're talking about sorting the columns within the library. If this can already be changed I haven't found how to do it.
BTW, I ski in snow too...being in Alaska and all... :D

I could be wrong, but I think this might be sorta supported already. If I click on 'Artist' right now (or any other node pretty much) I don't get this 'default sort order,' instead I automatically what I sort on. (Path) So... *Shrugs*

We're not talking nodes, as in the nodes in the file tree. We're talking about sorting by column in the library itself. See the referenced forum for the full explanation.

Can't you already sort that way?

Just click on artist header and then ctrl-click on the header for date, album, track in the order you want the sort by.

edit: I see... I guess you want to avoid the ctrl clicking. Well, you may only need to ctrl-click on the year to get what you want, which really isn't that much work and the sort order is usually remembered.[/i]

And every user has it's own preferences so the CTRL solution is the best option.
