Just thought of something else

Post by nrb5 »

I have been think about some cool features and some are listed here:
Bug: Minimizing doesn't work quite right (both using task bar clicking, and minimize button in media monkey)

Features:
***** Video (multiple media support), There is a plug-in but it crashes sometimes and works poorly so it would be cool to see full integration. There would have to be some sort of way for separating each media type if a user wanted.

***** Media Server - this is supported in WMP 11, so that you can stream your media to a PS3 or any other device that supports this feature (think you don't need media center anymore to stream to 360 either). Also this could be a built in option to pick up on other peoples servers on the same network much like itunes has. This feature would be much more usefull if other media formats were supported, but would be cool for music alone as well.

**** Support for using meta data in Auto-DJ such as song rating - so for instance the songs with above a certain rating would only be added.

*** Support for using meta data in random - so if you hit random play (maybe could call it something else) it would choose songs with a better rating more often over ones without. Maybe you could set your mood and both this and Auto-DJ could use that mood setting.

**** I talked about a having a mood setting, maybe based off of what you skipped it could decide your mood basted off of the meta tag data.

**More in depth tagging - the option to get rating according to a group of people, tempo information... many of the fields that could be filled out. I don't know what service could be used, maybe media monkey could make a database website were users could upload this info. Rate could be grabbed from amazon. There would have to some sort of system for if the most people said that it had a rating of __ or a temp __ blank then you could use that.

These are all just some ideas so you can take them or leave them or discuss them, just some things I though about. I used * as a rating for what I liked 5 * being the highest rating.

---------------

**** Pop up at bottom of song skipped so you can rate it (stays for a while).

*** rating based off of number of skips (could turn it off or on).

Please read the first post.

Only post links to topics containing one main feature outlined by the users. Do not outline the feature here, it gets messy.

Thank you. :)

Could we get a feature where when you rip a CD it automatically gets the composers of the tracks? It's kind of annoying to get them yourself. In that it's really annoying.

I wold like to see flac to alac conversion. It would be great for maintaining lossless audio when syncing flac files to an iPod with on-the-fly conversion.

I hope I'm not in the wrong area, looked for information elsewhere, but could not find anything. I discovered MM this last week, and plan to use it - however, I also plan to switch to Linux shortly. Do you have plans to port to Linux, OS X, or any other platform? I suppose I could use wine or vmware, but really would rather use natively.

Discussion about Discussion about the Official Wishlist

Post by BrickTop »

You have to love having a discussion about a discussion about the Official Wishlist. This thread is entitled "Discussion about the Official Wishlist." I think that means this is a discussion about how the wishlist should be organized or prioritized. However, in the three pages that make up this thread, there are many direct suggestions for features to go on the wishlist. Those posts should be moved to a more appropriate section so that this thread can maintain its integrity.

NEW TOPIC

Now, when you first come to the section about the wishlist, it is in:

Board index ‹ General Discussions ‹ MediaMonkey Wishlist
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=4

In that section, the first thread is:

Read this first!
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =4&t=25558

which leads you to:

The Official Wishlist (v3.0+)
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25554

But back on "Board index ‹ General Discussions ‹ MediaMonkey Wishlist" the FIFTH (sticky) thread is:

The Compiled Wishlist (Updated 13 Sep 2005)
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... f=4&t=5498

Clearly, we have two "compiled" wish lists out there, and they are very different from each other. At first glance, it seems to me the second list, while more detailed, is superceded by the "The Official Wishlist (v3.0+)" but that should be verified by someone more in tune with the program. Regardless, one of the lists is superfluous and should be terminated.

NEW TOPIC

Finally, I would suggest the Wish List be linked to in the FAQ or somewhere more conspicuous. I eventually searched for it using the Search feature, but I used the keywords "wish list" instead of "wishlist" so it took me longer than it should have to find it. If the objective is to get as much feedback as people would like to leave, then I'd make it easier to find. If the list is growing at a satisfactory rate and you don't want all the feed back, then no modification would be necessary.

In addition to what I just posted above, I found this MM Wishlist floating around on the web:

http://mediamonkey.wikispaces.com/wishlist

There should be one "official" wishlist. If this wiki is supported by MM, then MM should consider merging all the wishlists and having only one.

New feature: similar to "Tips of the day", a new window that states known problems like problematic iPod updates, or new versions.

DJ - Dual Player / Output Feature

Post by rjbur »

Formal Request to Development Team to add a true DJ Party Mode Feature that supports:

- Two (2) - Definable Audio Output Devices, one for AIR - live to audience, the second as CUE - to a set of headphones.
- Support of multiple output sound cards such as ECHO Digital Audio's ... INDIGO DJ
- Multiple Player Decks - cue up the next song while the current song is playing. Ability to send decks output to AIR or CUE or both
- Crossfader, gap killer, beat matching and volume normalization will make you sound like a true professional!

Check Thread(s):

- http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =4&t=15601
and
- http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 601#p99910

It's been over a year since the posts above, I guess I picked the wrong place to request it the first time. Hope I have it right this time.

GREAT Software!!! Just need to take it a little further to make it usable in a simple DJ Party environment. I would think the paying user base would grow immensely if MM support at least 2 player decks and dual sound outputs...

Thanks again,
Rich

We need something under Plugin Support on the official wishlist. No one has responded to this item on ASIO support, so the thousands of MM users who need it must have been too busy to comment. At least there has been no disagreement. Any improvement in sound quality is worth looking into; maybe the coding will be easy.

Re: Auto Reply Update

Post by Kaziii »

I hope that I am posting this in the appropriate area. I am requesting an update of auto-DJ. I am a recent convert to MediaMonkey gold from MusicMatch and later iTunes. MediaMonkey seems to have both beat with one exception. iTunes "Genius" feature is similar to auto-DJ except is has a smart feature that matches music in the automatic playlist without manual input. It makes sure that the music flows together much like an album is designed to have the songs flow in a certain way. While this may sound nebulous and questionable, the feature actually works well and is superior to the auto-DJ that MusicMatch had or that MediaMonkey has. I love your now playing window. Can you please add a feature similar to iTunes Genius? Thanks,
Rob

I think that the last.fm script can basically do the same, but with input from last.fm.
