Windows XP integration - file handling

Post by Mikey1974 »

MM4 doesn't integrate into Windows XP SP3, meaning files like mp3 and wav are not be played instantly. It is possible though to right-click on them and then add to mediamonkey's playlist via the file-context-menu!

I hope this gets fixed soon. BTW. Where may I download MM3?

Thanks in advance

Tools > Options > OS Integration. You'll need to associate MediaMonkey with the file types and also enable re-associate. Right click options can be set there as well.

Thanks, that works.
But it's only a workaround, as you must check the re-associate option.

Are the developers aware of this bug?

That normally indicates another program is also set to re-associate with the same file types on startup.

Alright, I'll further investigate into that and be back on that soon, if necessary.

Hello,

I had a thorough look at the problem on 2 PCs, which have both MM4.0.21462 , Itunes 10.4.1.10, Irfanview 4.30, Mediaplayer Classic 1.5.3.3752, AIMP2, Quicktime 7.7 (1680.34) and WMP 11.0.5721.5280 installed. One OS is Windows XP Home SP3, the other one is Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 SP3.

On both Systems there was no other program associated with wave and mp3 files and no other program had the option to re-associate at start enabled.

MM4 only does register in the right way, once you have configured it to re-associate and afterwards reinstall MM4!!!

As there are other association bugs in mantis, I would vote for this to become an official bug. Anyhow, if somebody still has Windows XP, and stumbles upon the same bug, please confirm here.

Thanks in advance

Hello,
I didn't do portable install.
I don't know if I'm able to produce this bug again. But if you have any ideas, what might have been wrong, please let me know, okay?
Anyhow, if nobody will confirm this bug, I'm probalby the last betatester, who uses Windows XP?
