Multiple Genre Options

Post by yester64 »

Howdy,
i really think Multiple Genre should be included since some Interprets apply to different genres and not only one.
Not sure if that's already on a list, but if not it should be included :)

Use a semi-colon to separate genres in the Genre field.

e.g.
Jazz; Swing
Image
MM Gold 3.0.3.1183 : Vista HP SP1 (x86) : Zen Stone (2GB)
Zekton: An original MM3 skin by Eyal.
Scripts in Use: Add/Remove PlayStat | Auto Album DJ | AutoRateAccurate | Backup
Case & Leading Zero Fixer | Classification & Genre Changer | Clean Scripts.ini | Clear
Field | Custom Report | Discogs Auto-Tag Web Search | Forget Crossfade | Invert
Selection/Select None | Last 100... | Lyricator | Lyrics to Instrumental | MonkeyRok
MusicBrainz Tagger | My Custom Nodes | Now Playing Art Node | Play History & Stats
Right Click for Reports | Right Click for Scripts | Right Click for Web | Stop After Current
WebNodes

Does not do the job.
If i want to select the genre, it does it not display. It only works for once genre. :(

How are you selecting it? What version of MM are you using?

The same track will appear once in the each Genre node.

That was quick :o

yes, i did indeed select the genre. I entered it like this in the field > hardrock; heavymetal; etc.
I use 3.03.

If Mediamonkey can do that already, that would be great. :)

MM already parses multi values for the genre field as spacefish indicated. What makes you think it isn't working correctly?

That's the correct format, yes, though I wouldn't add the last ; at the end.

i.e. if I have a track with a genre of: Alternative; Rock
it will show up under the "Alternative" genre as well as the "Rock" genre.

I just wanted to say that I think that using the semi-colon to designate multiple classification possibilities is F*CKING BRILLIANT and should immediately be adopted by all media players as an ISO standard. It's such a load off my mind, not having to decide where I'm going to classify an artist who is "on the fence" as far as musical styles.
