[MAJOR] - Incorrect Artist/Album Artist Classifications
I am experiencing a major bug:
MediaMonkey Gold 3.2.0.1294 is incorrectly recognizing artists and album artists. It is grouping artists under the wrong folders in the a seamingly random fashion. This also applies when I click "find more from same artist". An example is shown in the attached screenshot.
For example, I browse to "ludacris" under the artist node, and end up with a random bob dylan album thrown in (Yes, I've verified the tags: there is no mention of "ludacris" in any field).
Ideas?
In some cases, the tracks from a particular artist don't even appear under their entry!? I.e. I have an album by 3oh!3, when I click on it, I get tracks from 3 random artists, and none from them. When I search, they show up fine.

I should add the following:
This is running on the following system:
Windows 7 Pro, AMD Phenom II X4 945 "Black" CPU, 8gb RAM
Music is stored on a 2TB RAID 0 array, located on a NAS device over gigabit ethernet.
~60,000 tracks in library

Have you tried running the Maintain Database, does this fix it?

That looks very strange indeed. I looks like your Artist-Table is "out of order". Have you been doing anything that could explain this?

Re: [MAJOR] - Incorrect Artist/Album Artist Classifications
I'm trying optimize database now. It's been running for about 30 minutes so far (on "quick"), and still seems to be going. We'll see if that fixes it...
I just re-added all my songs a couple days ago, which took about 36 hours to complete. The only think I've done which may influence it is delete the MM.db file (before I re-added everything)...

Re: [MAJOR] - Incorrect Artist/Album Artist Classifications
Optimize library didn't work. I left it running for a few hours... didn't seem to be doing anything. I had to end the process for MM and restart.
Any other ideas?
If it helps, this is being run a an x64 version of Win7 (as there is 8gb of RAM...)

Ok, I got "optimize library" to run now. It had no effect on the artist issue...

Let's check your ArtistsSongs Table. We can do that with by using my SQL-Viewer script. Download and install it from here:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =2&t=24841
Then run this SQL:Copy the code into the SQL-Window and press Run Select Query.
The IDSong and Songs.ID should be the same. I suspect they are not.

Then run this SQL:
Code: Select all
SELECT IDSong, Songs.ID, Artist, SongTitle
FROM Songs, ArtistsSongs
WHERE IDSong=Songs.ID
AND PersonType=1 AND ArtistsSongs.ID IN
(SELECT ID FROM Artists WHERE Artist='The Shins')
The IDSong and Songs.ID should be the same. I suspect they are not.

Bex: Thanks for the help. I'm trying to run the query you provided, but it is not returning any results. I don't seem to have any table called "IDSong" ?

Re: [MAJOR] - Incorrect Artist/Album Artist Classifications
... or was that the point: to show that IDSong != Songs.ID?
If so... why would this happen, and how do I fix it? (And prevent it from happening to others)

Re: [MAJOR] - Incorrect Artist/Album Artist Classifications
I also have International Noise Conspiracy & +44 in my music library .
Re: [MAJOR] - Incorrect Artist/Album Artist Classifications
Erh, I must have been a little confused yesterday. Try this SQL:
This should prove that your DB is "corrupt". I've added an extra space in 'The Shins' since it looks like you have a double space there.
To see how many errors you have in your DB try these script by Owyn:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =2&t=44507
As for fixing these issues, It really depends on how many errors you got. But I really wonder have it could happen in the first place?
Code: Select all
SELECT IDSong, Artists.Artist NodeArtist, Songs.Artist TrackArtist, SongTitle
FROM Songs, ArtistsSongs, Artists
WHERE ArtistsSongs.IDSong=Songs.ID
AND ArtistsSongs.IDArtist=Artists.ID
AND PersonType=1
AND Artists.Artist='The Shins'

Re: [MAJOR] - Incorrect Artist/Album Artist Classifications
Ok, so my database is certainly corrupt, and there are many errors (thousands).
1) How do we fix this?
2) Why did this happen in the first place? Has there been extensive testing done under Win 7 Ultimate x64?

Re: [MAJOR] - Incorrect Artist/Album Artist Classifications
1. Sorry to say but I really think you need to start over. I.e. rename your DB and then rescan your collection again. Please rename your DB so you can send it to the developers in case they want to see it to try to figure out what has happened.
2. I have no clue.
