Updates to Freedb [#3050]

Post by murreid »

It is nice that I can get information from FreeDB. However on occasion I have CDs where the information is not in FreeDB. In those cases I build up the track list manually. It would then be nice to be able to submit the information back to FreeDB so others do not have to do the same work over again.

Yes - of course!
You mean you can't do that with MM?
Embarasing. :-?

I'm going to build a track list manually right now (if I can figure out how to).
And of course I expect to upload it for the next person who wants to rip that CD to use.
Are you sure this can't be donewith MM?

Yes, quite embarrassing. We have been asking for the ability to "Submit new albums to the FREEDB for new CD's" for a couple of years.

Impossible to upload to freedb?
I agree - embarrassing. I am embarrassed to use freedb without contributing when I can.

I just finished checking the freedb application list...

You can add information to freedb using Nero.

How does Nero compare to Mediamonkey when it come to ripping? I don't even remember using anything but Mediamonkey for that.

We've got to keep adding to freedb if it's going to be useful in the future. How about a submit feature?

Gotta add my vote to this. I strongly agree that we should be contributing, if we are using it.
Add me to the  line up.

Running MM4 4.1.31.1919, on Win7 SP1, 16Gig memory, on Lenovo W530 (Intel i7) laptop
**If you're wondering why I'm still on MM4: It still has more useful-to-me plugins; and I prefer the GUI's responsiveness, panes spreadable over multi-monitors flexibility, and predictability (all coz it's more Windows-native). I also hate "flat design" for its visual inefficiency. For me, MM4's benefits are still > MM5, and MM5's downsides < MM4.

I strongly agree. This is an obvious one. Has to be done.
