Why don't use just use a script such as the similar artists script (that works similarly to itunes genius feature)? I think it does a fantastic job of playing what I want to hear at that moment without having to mess with autoplaylists or choosing songs myself. Of course, it doesn't read my mind and it won't switch automatically when my mood changes, but getting up and clicking once to switch it up isn't all that bad either.

In MM one can use the tags for mood and occasion, but to manually populate the tags is too much work for me.

There are some kind of "intelligent" players that analyse music automatically and where you can navigate e.g. by mood:
http://musicovery.com/
http://www.mufin.com/us/tour#/software/mufinplayerpro

They provide iTunes plug-ins as well. Perhaps Ventis Media could contact them to create plug-ins for MM, would be great!

There is MoodManager, although it tags all tracks on the Album with the same mood: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... od+manager

Enhancements and Requests? I got some.

1. A built in Alarm Clock - I tried using the Winamp plugin but it doesn't work right. A built in alarm clock that plays a folder/playlist/etc. and has the option to randomize, straight through play, and continue from the last position (where the alarm clock stopped playing last), would be fantastic! Some additional options would be stop playback after so long, and automatic volume increase to a certain level when it starts playing.

2. Voice Controls / Voice Recognition - I really enjoy the ability of coming home after a night of drinking with a woman and saying "computer, play something smooth" and the computer (mediamonkey) would play that playlist/folder that I predefined for that command. I created something like this a few years back using microsofts speech engine that would read from an xml file that mapped a voice command to a playlist, which kicked off winamp. the word 'computer' which is just a trigger could be any word, like 'hal' or something that tells the computer to start listening to for a command. then the following saying would tell the computer what to play. Being able to stop playback isn't as easy but isn't really necessary.

3. Mobile Phone, Tablet App - having an android app to control media monkey over wifi would be pretty useful. An added option to allow mediamonkey to automatically play when it detects my phone on wifi, as well as pause playback when it disconnects would be pretty bad ass.

4. Lightweight Client app - I'm just brainstorming now but at my place I have my main computer in my study and another in my livingroom as my media center pc (runs linux with xbmc) and there have been times where i'd like to have both computers synced up to playing the same music at the same time. the Client app would basically be a listener for the main (server) app and if the option is set on the main player then it would stream the song to the listener, adjusting for network lag of course. the listener would also have a pretty decent buffer of the current and next song.

As an added note I'd like to say that media monkey is one of the better music players I have come across in terms of footprinting, responsiveness, and functionality. I love the option for folder playing! I'm also willing to do some beta testing on this added functionality I'm requesting.

I think we are moving in the right direction as far as gaining a more intuitive feel for the audio player. But it is true I would love to be able to relax and go to sleep and have my player know its that time and start playing softer music. That would be amazing.

i use autoplaylists in conjuction with the windows task scheduler and pekes script to work monkey from the windows task scheduler.

just change the style of music at the time you want by changing to another playlist. 8)

Maybe this is a bad word on the MM forums, but Pandora, anyone? I have never seen a website choose such excellent songs after telling it simply one song that matches my mood. I wish we could extrapolate from pandora and add extra functionality to it and have it work with our MM database. Last FM doesnt come close. Has anyone seen any other databases that can match songs like pandora does?
