[request] MM4 - UPNP Search Library support

Post by Arcao »

Thank you for DLNA/UPnP support in new MM4. It's cool feature to control MM4 from other devices especially from small devices like mobile phones.

I am using BubbleUPnP player (Android) which can search in DLNA/UPnP server library but it looks like MM4 don't support it. Could it be possible to add this to your wish list?

According to the list at the wiki, it's supported:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... NA_Devices

Are you able to confirm that sharing is working with any other app/application?

In your wiki writen that i need use this adress http://<Network IP address>:<Port#>/DeviceDescription.xml
But BubbleUPnP can only use this http://<Network IP address>:<Port#> if i write DeviceDescription.xml this give error that address incorrect. If i use http://<Network IP address>:<Port#> BubbleUPnP give error The remote server could be joined but returned HTTP error code 404

Those instructions only refer to accessing MM outside of your own network. If you are browsing within the same network, it should just appear in the uPnP servers list.

Well in that case you are accessing it outside of the home network, so you need to follow those instructions.

Hopefully you realize you don't actually use

Code: Select all

http://<Network IP address>:<Port#>
You need to substitute your actual IP address and port number into the URL. If you have a wireless router, you will also need to use port forwarding to allow outside connections to your network.

I'm browsing your server right now on my iPhone. Seems to work fine! You could verify by looking in the Mediasharing options under the "Upnp/dlna server" tab. I'm accessing it with "8 player lite" app on iPhone.

What address you use? With DeviceDescription.xml or not? I can't input address with DeviceDescription.xml =( apps get error. I will try to contact with app's developer.

PS Edit your quote please to remove my address ;)

Hi. any update on this? Using BubbleUPnP, if I add the "/DeviceDescription.xml" to the Server Address, the app automatically says the server address is invalid, and won't connect.

It must be a problem with your app, or maybe you did not allow port forwarding. I've tested this and it works fine.

Could you tell me exactly the settings in bubbleupnp you used? It does not accept anything beyiond the port number for me.

I didn't test with Bubbleupnp, I used the app: 8 player lite.

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid you'd say that. Anyone know of an Android app that will allow this?
