BUG: MMA Not syncing correctly. Artists & Art messed up

MMA 152; MMW 1651 USB sync

I have been having some issues with recent builds, as others have, but thought it was to be worked out with this build.

I have uninstalled MMA, deleted all music and mm folders on phone. Then after fresh install I sync'd a playlist.

Basically it put 252 albums into the artist "Unknown" and it looks like all of those albums are missing artwork also. They show fine in MMW .. both artist and artwork. AND yes Artist and Album Artist are correct!!!

Nobody else seen this? Nobody else has a Unknown artist popping up on their device? I see there are many with some artwork issues.

Okay .. in this one see all the unknown artist. They aren't unknown in the tags. Also note the one '1 Giant Leap' ... i shows as unknown and as 1 Giant Leap. MMA can't make up its mind.


In this image I have selected ALL the tracks for '1 Giant Leap' and display properties. As it shows the Artist and Album Artist this means that the tags are the same for all tracks.


Last question, this image shows not only that there are 232 albums for unknown artist, but that many of the graphics are missing. Also, why does it show number of tracks and sometimes number of albums.


And finally, to support the question about 'album count or track count' above, here is a listing from the playlist for 'Walter Trout Band' (great great blues). 2 albums but MMA shows them in the image above as tracks.


So what is going on?? Again this was a fresh install of MMA and new SYNC

Hi have definitely seen all of this before. If memory serves, there was an issue with the album artist tag in MMA - so can you check the tracks under, for example, "...Sounds Like This" to see what the album artist is? I'm guessing that it'll be blank, even though this information is in the tags.

These problems (incomplete art, unknown artists) all went away for me when I did a complete wipe of the SD card and fresh reload from MMW.

That is one of the things that really confuses me. I wasn't having these problems but did a complete delete of all music and mm folders. Then installed fresh. Now I am really having problems

Yep, after another wipe ..
uninstall
delete MMA on both phone and sdcard
delete music on both phone and sdcard

Reinstall
google play - install beta
be sure that options have 'external sdcard' marked
connect phone usb to computer ... sync starts

At completion of sync here are the problems I see:

1) Album artwork is missing on many albums. Artwork does exist in MMW
2) Large number of Albums with 'Unknown Artist'. It appears that the 'Album Artist' tags all say UNKNOWN but does not say that in MMW
3) There are a large number of albums where in Album List it shows the album twice. Once with a 'number' of tracks as being for artist x and then the remaining number of tracks as being for 'unknown'. Once again this is not how it is in MMW

Hello, were you able to fix this issue? I am having exactly the same problem. Reinstalled MMA, MMW and still Albums get messed up when synced. Everything looks ok on MMW side.

No ... and nobody else besides you has ever seen this. The last time i installed it seems to be working now. But i will no use wifi sync again because redoing everything is a pita

Bugs 10756 and 11289 will hopefully resolve most of the AA issues.

Although, there's still the problem that compilation albums fail to show AA in some views...

I recently started getting the issue described here. Is there a fix yet.

When viewing albums all artistist are unknown

When viewing artistist shows tracks only no albums

Got all the latest installs, sync via usb. when viewing my music with other players there are no issues.

There is an issue with build 168 / 1662 that if the Album Artist is blank, it's changed to 'Unknown artist':

I suspect that's what you're seeing (let me know if not), and we'll hopefully fix that in the next build.

I don’t believe that is my issue, all metadata is correctly populated.

If I view a track located on my phone in MMW is shows that Album artist populated.

But if I View the same track in MMA and album artist is missing.

No albums are being displayed at all in MMA but other media application see this.

Hi Carlowen,

I can't replicate the problem you're experiencing using MMA 168 / MMW 1662 . Is it possible that you synced the tracks in question using earlier builds?

If you delete all tracks from the device and resync with the latest builds, does it still occur?

Almost every album on MMA on my S4 has the same album art, but it's correct on the PC. MMA has been updated 3-5 times on my PC.

As an aside it'd be nice if ratings were sync'd back to MMW more easily. I have root so I can mount it over USB to sync, but not many people do, and it sounds like something that should be possible over a network (I'm a developer).
