Rewind button behavior after app has been closed [#11841]

Post by 4o66 »

If MM:A has been closed either via the "Stop" button in the notification pull-down, or by Android after it has not been active long enough for the memory to be recovered, the rewind button advances backwards to previous track instead of restarting the current track when you restart MM:A

To Duplicate:
  1. Open MM:A and play (or skip to) a track for more than 5 seconds.
  2. Pause the playback.
  3. At this point, expected behavior of rewind button is to restart track playback.
  4. Go to Android home screen.
  5. Pull down the notifications screen, and stop MM:A with the "Stop" button.
  6. You could also let it end by itself by not running MM:A long enough that Android reclaims the memory.
  7. Launch MM:A, and go to the "Now Playing" screen.
  8. Without pressing "Play" press "Rewind."
  9. Instead of restarting the currently shown track, the previous track is played.
In the past, I have also observed hitting rewind actually took you back to the MM:A home screen, but I have not figured out how to duplicate that issue (yet.)

I second this one.
Because of this glitch I am afraid to hit the back button. For a while now i have just been tapping the beginning of the progress bar instead of using the rewind button.

Fortunately it only seems to happen on the track that was playing at shutdown.

Unfortunately, if you have shuffle turned on, kiss the song you were playing goodbye.

More information:

Last night it was worse than usual, pressing back no matter where you were in any track was going to previous track. With shuffle mode on, the prior track was random (hit next track, get a new track, hit rewind, get something else than what you just skipped from.) With shuffle mode off, would play prior track in playlist.
I tried toggling repeat and shuffle settings, to no effect. I submitted logs, Log ID: Q6OKUW90VW, and after the log sent, the problem went away...

And its back. While driving home, the behavior re-appeared. Log ID: OA6TORW7X9

Submitting logs did not clear it this time. Was able to fix it by regenerating the now playing list. (Went to tracks, and hit shuffle all play.)

Confirmed Version 1.0.4.0225

Able to reproduce by:
  1. From home screen of MM:A hit tracks, and play all.
  2. Let a track play for more than 5 seconds
  3. Drag down Android notifications menu
  4. Hit stop button in MM:A Ongoing Task
  5. Restart MM:A
  6. Bookmark for track is not saving? Shows last playing track, at position 0:00
  7. Hit play, wait 5 seconds
  8. Hit rewind and get a new track

The behavior is not limited to the rewind button, swiping a track to the right while shuffle mode is on results in a random track switch.

4o66,

I was going to re-open the bug, but upon looking at your report more closely, I'm not sure that this is a bug:

1) In the first case:
  • From home screen of MM:A hit tracks, and play all.
Let a track play for more than 5 seconds
    Drag down Android notifications menu
Hit stop button in MM:A Ongoing Task
    Restart MM:A
Bookmark for track is not saving? Shows last playing track, at position 0:00
    Hit play, wait 5 seconds
Hit rewind and get a new track
At step 3 you pressed the stop button without pressing [Pause], which is why MMA stopped without saving the point at which playback was interrupted. One might argue that MMA should save the point at which playback was paused anyhow, but one could also argue that that's the difference between Pause and Stop.

2) In the second case:
swiping a track to the right while shuffle mode is on results in a random track switch.
I'm not quite sure what the bug is--if shuffle is enabled, isn't a random track switch expected?

I see what you mean about stop and testing confirms hitting pause first saves the position.

The issue is that the << "rewind" button is advancing to a random track instead of restarting the current track.
It is a random track, as I would normally expect MM:A to skip tracks backwards in the order they were played even in shuffle mode. (This is how it works when the bug is not in effect.)

When swiping the track info to the right I also get a random track, not the last one played. (Again, only when the bug is in effect, normally I DO get the previously played track.)
