i re-encoded flac to flac last night after posting here. It didn't take all that long. i did about 100hrs worth of songs give or take. Easiest thing to do is just view all your music and do a shift or ctrl click, select what you want and do a batch re-encode and come back later.

flac 1.1.4 alpha still gets the sync erorrs, but appears to be able to re-encode these file with

flac.exe -V -F -f -8 inputfile.flac -o outputfile.flac

NOTE: make sure you test your 1.1.4 files before deleting any old ones.

You are right, The corrupted part of Flac is what you/we call SampleRate and bitrate Rate info needed for decoder to catch stream and seek info faster, MM gets that info from FLAC Format Header not directly from Audio Stream same goes with FLAC 1.1.4 it forces decoding of stream chunk even if decoder info is wrong and file is converted without problem as No audio stream is corrupted.

Just to confirm for others, From my testing thus far, 2.5.5.997 does not mess up flac files, but it does not fix files that were previously messed up.

To fix messed up files, simply use the convert audio and re-encode to flac. Worked for me.

This problem is occuring for me in 3.0.0.1020.

Any chance of an updated .dll for the alpha2/3.0.0.1020 version? (Or do I have to wait for the new alpha?)

Could you replicate a problem with DLL copied From MM 2.5.5.998?
And be sure that file is not corrupted already. I haven't been able to replicate this no matter how much I tried and what ever I do.

1. Make small flac file few MB (<5Mb) Copy Original where ever you want.
2. Put MM (both 2.5.5 and 3.0) in pain and tag, edit, delete, change, remove, add and ... whatever you came up with
3. if you find error and file got corrupted post both files (source and corrupted) to Pavle at mediamonkey dot com

P.S. I moved this in Bug report as that is where it belongs.

The current MediaMonkey v. 4.1.21.1873 screws again flac files when tagging them.
Error codes are FLAC_STREAM_DECODER_READ_FRAME and/or FLAC_STREAM_DECODER_LOST_SYNC
After being tagged with MM, .flac files will start playing at random positions of the song. With VLC media player, I'm able to rewind to the beginning, so the data itself is not lost.

Update: The reason seems to be that Mediamonkey adds ID3 tags to .flac's that have already been tagged with FLAC tags (with the app mp3tag) and this "dual-tagging" basically destroys the files or at least confuses Media Player Apps (incl. MediaMonkey).
Is there any way to repair the files or force Mediamonkey to only change FLAC tags and not to add ID3 tags?

You're using an outdated version: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... =8811&sd=d Update and the problem should be fixed.

Thanks! Didn't noticed that as MM didn't show that an update is available. I'll test it and report the results...

Unfortunately .flacs that got damaged while using the old version remain buggy.
Any idea how to fix them? Deleting tags or re-tagging (tried both MP3Tag and Mediamonkey) doesn't seem to help.

Hi,
MMW do not add ID3 tags into FLAC as it violates standard of OGG/VORBIS tag format, which is intended for FLAC.

More about that can be easily found if you search https://www.google.com/search?q=FLAC+do ... t+ID3+Tags

Thanks for the info. I thought id3 was the problem as my Android smartphone isn't able to play any .flac files I ripped and tagged with MM (whether corrupt files or not) except when using VLC but then again it shows strange tag entries varying from the ones on Windows/MM/mp3tag/VLC.
