[SOLVED] Widget dissappeared after moving MMA App from Internal to SD

Post by RickMM »

I did have the MMA widget (which displayed the artwork and current selected song on about a quarter of the phone screen) on one of my folders on my Android S5 phone. After I moved MMA app from internal to SD the widget disappeared from my folder/screen. I tried to re-add the widget back to the folder but it was not listed in the widget section. I don't recall the exact name of the MMA widget. The only MediaMonkey widgets available on my phone are:-

Playlist 1x1
Synchronisation 1x1

but neither of these widgets are the one I was previously using.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

(MMA Pro version 1.3.4.0854)

There should be MediaMonkey 5x1, MediaMonkey 4x2, etc. widgets listed before the Playlist/Sync widgets. The fact that they don't appear is probably unrelated to where your music is stored.
Did you also move the MMA app to the SD card?
Are you using a third-party launcher (if yes, does the widget appear in the stock launcher)?
Does upgrading to 1.3.5 have any impact?

Thanks!

No MediaMonkey 5x1, MediaMonkey 4x2 widgets appear listed. I only moved the MMA app to the SD, not the music. The music has always being stored on SD from the initial install. I'm not using a third-party launcher.

EDIT - I edited my posts to reflect that I have moved only the MMA App but NOT the music storage.

Hi,
This is normal behavior of Android OS, as when you move App to SDCard and you haev Widget for the app it will Keep SDcard Active and drain Battery, also if Power save kick in It is very likely that your Phone Home Screen will freeze and MMA crash due the fact that SDCard is unmounted.

It was always like that (at least from Android 4.1 (ICS) and it is system controlled not MMA controlled.

Re Widgets: When moved to SD card then non of APP widgets should be available.

For Me if app is on Internal Storage then I see below Widgets, if I move to SDcard they are missing.

Thanks Peke. I moved the app back to internal storage, all back to normal now.

Hi,
My pleasure, I needed to test widget behavior on various Android Versions anyway.
