Support for TAK file format

Post by DaKo »

It would be nice if support for TAK (Tom's lossless Audio Kompressor) could be added. Most/All other players/programs I use (foobar2000, AIMP, MusicBee, Mp3tag) already support this audio format.

The developer already supplies a Winamp input plugin, but it's not fully working in MediaMonkey. The playback works, but the tags cause problems. Only the artist tag is properly loaded by MediaMonkey, all others tags are "empty". The input plugin also shows an error ("Error reading file") when MediaMonkey reads in new files.

Here is the offical page (in German):

Latest version 2.3.0 (the file also contains documentation for the input plugin):

Based on SDK looks like TAK uses APEv2 Tag format.

Do you have some sample files that you can send me DL URL in PM?

Yes, TAK uses APEv2 (this is also shown in Mp3tag).

I sent you a sample file.

Any news on this? The author of TAK released version 2.3.1 a few weeks ago, so it came to my mind that I created this thread :).

The latest version can be found here:

If you need another sample file, I can send you one.
