deleting Play lists

Post by KeysDz »

I have over 500 imported play lists imported by mistake. I exported all playlists to a offline hard drive and then deleted all of the play lists. When I scanned to add more files to the database it returned all the play lists where else are these playlists located.
I have Media Monkey not to lookup anything except lyrics. Tag and rename does all my tagging and artwork lookups. Where else is the playlists located so I can delete them and not have them come back'

MediaMonkey doesn't show where imported Playlists are located, so you may need to do a search in the folders you're scanning.

Tip: You can remove the Imported Playlists node to also remove all the imported Playlists listed as sub-nodes of the Imported Playlists node.

thanks for the quick reply, I have done a complete search of my computer for any playlist backups and deleted them. In Media Monkey I deleted all the imported playlists and the Imported folder. cleared all recycle bins and closed Media Monkey rebooted computer. Returning to Media Monkey the Imported playlist folder and files are gone.

Now I went to Add and rescan files to Library Results of scan
Library Now has 81701 files
Search and update took 03:34
Imported 0 new files
Updated 0 files
Did not import 0 files
Failed to import 0 files

Returning to Media Monkey my deleted Imported playlist folder and 512 files have returned. Can you reproduce this?

I am using MMW 5.0.3.2603 + 2604 Beta

1. I exported a playlist from MM4 to the "MM5_PlaylistImport" folder.

2. MM5 Collections & Views (FOLDER enabled)

3. View BEFORE scanning

4. Settings for scanning

5. After scanning (see Imported Playlists)

6. I switch to the node "FOLDER" - "MM5_PlaylistImport" and delete the playlist "FromMM4.m3U"

7. Imported playlists view

Any further scanning has no effect.
There are still M3U-files on your PC somewhere.
Scan your PC for .m3U using Windows Explorer.
Or are you connected to OneDrive or similar clouds?

Check the folders you have enabled in Add/Rescan Files as somewhere you must still have Playlist files stored in them.

Hi,
Not sure if I got this correctly once M3U is imported any further dealing with M3U will have no effect (eg. be that scaning or deleting M3U) as M3U is IMPORTED in MM library and you need to delete it from there.

Please excuse me if I am wrong. Which I would like to be as like Lowlander said it would be either bug (somewhere) or you have that same M3U copy else were.

Hello Peke,

KeyDz still has the same M3U files somewhere on its computer system.
I have only presented my working structure with my pictures.

Just to confirm this works for me, using latest beta .2604.

Remove random imported playlist from MM5, find and delete the corresponding .m3u file from my "music" folder, restart MM5, rescan, and it stays gone.

So, considering I seem to have more than my share of things that don't work, this should count as pretty good!

Albeit, my setup is simple with all songs and files stored locally, and no remote content.

Re: deleting Play lists (Found Solution)

I found the 500 + playlists in a hidden windows folder that saves Network files for offline use. You have to change permissions to be able to delete these files. Every time I would delete the Imported Playlists folder it would be replaced when I scan for added files. All my music files are on my NAS. The windows folder is :
c:\windows\CSC\v2.0.6\namespace\

When I first installed MM5 it was a cold install, I did not bring over any files from MM4. During the add new files I must have checked the box in options: Create playlists of tracks newly added to the library, that is how I had 500 playlists.

Everybody thanks for all the help
