Strange. 47 votes cast by how many users?
And of these, 30 users determine that they do not need a burning function.
Is this the MM5 developer's decision-making tool?

I consider this addon between MM5 and MM4 only as an interim solution.

Create the same burning options for MM5 as we are used to from MM4.
Thanks

- One registered non new user can cast one choice
- In most cases they do not have hardware to burn CD/DVD if you check most laptops/desktops do not have optical media (at least it is a trend for past 3-5 years.
- No, we were divided also, but then if you also check newer cars also mostly came without CD/DVD drive and mostly with touch screen so MM on Head units is more preferable than burning function
- Burning component is not multi platform
- Burning feature costed us license fees and license terms changed over the years.
- ATM we seek all possible solution that would add feature back, without compromising MM overall and be multiplatform

- Yes MM5 -> MM4 burning is temp workaround before more permanent solution is found

Finally stats do not go well:

https://www.wired.co.uk/article/dvd-sales-streaming
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/04 ... port-says/
.....

Personally, I have at least 15 CD/DVD Burners at attic, that are so dirty of no use that can't read any Disks.

EDIT: Just checked and I have 9 Verbatim M-Disc BDXL 100GB 6X un-opened I ever used 1 for testing, at least 25x Spindle of 9GB DVDs, 10+ 25/50GB BDs, 30+ CD-RW all collecting dust for at least 3 years. That all is more than 400 $USD thrown away.

Hello Pavle,
then please also say that this function will no longer be programmed for MM5.
Thanks

Edit: by the way, I have friends who buy/have bought external CD/DVD drives.

Only solution:

FYI: As a workaround I added "Burn CD/DVD using MM4" addon that sents selected files from MM5 to MM4 > Now Playing to be easily burned. You just need to have MM4 installed (to a different folder than MM5 of course -- to be separated).

The addon can be downloaded here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ba23vz2ki08kf ... .mmip?dl=0

1. It is planned for revision in MM5.1 for 5.0.x for now we have solution

2. Yes I know I have bought several https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32893775826.html and like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z33pqnpAMS0 I have multi BD-ROM/CD/DVD Burner from dead Dell Laptop along few DVD burners ripped also from dead laptops.

Finally you can all ways use free Burner apps and drag and drop MM files. Check these https://www.movavi.com/learning-portal/ ... urner.html

Bring CD burning back. I just paid $50 to make playlists and burn them for my buddy without a streaming service. I uninstalled 4 and my old key. I'm not using MM to detect media servers.

Re: CD Burning in MM 5 - Why excitement about the burning

Post by Timo_Beil »

Sorry, but I don't understand the Excitement about the burning feature.
I do it the same way, like preparing a SD-Card to be played in the car.
Send To > Folder (rip/convert) builds a car-(CD)-friendly collection in a folder.
The build-in burning feature of Windows (10/11) does the rest.
Finished.
What are the outstanding advantages of CD Burning in MM?

That certainly sound logical to me. Can windows actually produce a music cd format as opposed to just a disk containing mp3 files??

Possibly mediamonkey could provide an interface for Windows CD writing function, so it could be completed within the program itself.

For those who still need CD burning, an addon has been created by Ludek to make it easier: https://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/brow ... amonkey-4/

To use after installing:
1. Select the desired tracks
2. Right click, Send to -> CD/DVD (Burn using MM4)...
3. MM4 will then open. Select the tracks again in MM4
4. Right click, Send to -> CD/DVD/BD (Burn)... to open the CD burning wizard.

EDIT: Requires MediaMonkey 5.0.2 or higher.

I uploaded many addons to MM's addon page, but not all of those were created by me. "By drakinite, Submitted by drakinite" means I made it on my own time. "By Ventis Media, Inc., Submitted by drakinite" means it may have been made by me or another MediaMonkey developer, so instead of crediting/thanking me, please thank the team. You can still ask me for support on any of our addons.

As mentioned prior you can use MediaMonkey 4 to burn and if you have a MediaMonkey 5 License it will work in MediaMonkey 4 too.

Are you kidding! Burning CDs should be a function on Media Monkey. As a lifetime license, I feel duped.

CD Burning is absolutely needed in MM5, the workarounds are awful

Someone suggested launching MM4 and dragging MM5 playlists over to it. However music files can be dragged from MM4 to MM5, but not vice versa -- Windows 10 just gives the circular "Can Not Drop Here" icon

Thankfully, the "Burn CD Using MediaMonkey 4" plugin works
