Videos Grid (by Videos) doesn't remember sort [#18561]

Post by Roxie2401 »

This was first reported in November of 2021 and actually assigned a ticket #018561 and was scheduled for being fixed in MM 5.03. Then it was moved to 5.1, now I see its been moved to 5.2 on 10-20-2022.

This appears to be very simple --- the sort order for Video Grid is not being saved on exit. Video grid sort has to be sorted each time MM5 is opened.

I'm not sure what the default is, but I resort by title each time and when I close and then restart MM, the sort is back to the default. When I go back to View/Main Panel/Manage Views/Grid(Videos)/Configure View:Video anything that was placed in Sorting: is now blank --- not saved.

This was originally part of a different thread and maybe it got lost because of that thread title. (https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 6&start=15)

I just upgraded to 5.04 with a lot of new features but is there any way to get this Video sort patched before version 5.2?

Thanks for looking at this issue again.

For what its worth, I think I found a "work-around" to keep the Grid (Videos) sort to stay set and not lost each time MM is restarted.

I added a custom view in the Manage Views ---- Videos/View/Main Panel View/Manage Views/ (add new) ---- I called it "Test" and set the Sort to Title A-Z and clicked "Ok." The sort is retained even when my system (Windows 10) is shut down and rebooted.

The problem is that the stock "default" view "Grid (videos)" does not get saved as reported in the original ticket. The "custom" view does get saved, if my testing is correct.

It looks like the custom view is being written to the correct configuration file (persistent??) but maybe the default "Grid (videos)" is being written to a temp or cache file --- just guessing here.
