adding album art freezes MM [#6133]

For an album that fails, if you delete the Art, and then retag, will it fail again?

If I have to kill and restart MM, no Album Art was tagged to the files. When I try again to add the art to the album (same art, same album), it doesn't fail. It happened with all sizes of art, most of the time I use art of 500x500.

Also, before I want to add album art, if files contain art, I delete all art.

I have been doing a lot of album art tagging and cleanup for the last 3 days using 1277 debug,

I set Podcast Updates->Manual during the process to avoid conflict with updates of my 70+ subscriptions.

I used Batch Art Finder as the primary tagger. I had no freeze problems during this process.

I then switched to Files to Edit->Inconsistent Album Art to clean up. I sorted the track list by path and started walking through the albums. Select Properties for first track in album and then adjust Album Art as required and Apply to whole Album.

I had several freezes while using this process. Primarily on fairly large albums. (I had also reworked multi-cd album tagging during this process to remove Disc, CD etc from Album and went to Disc# and AMG style Track# tags, so I had several albums which required Track#:3 and a couple which required Disc#:2. )

Unfortunately I had stopped running continuous Debug View effective 1277 so I don't have logs of the error states.

My impression is that the Frozen + 5 errors were being triggered at much less than 5 minutes from start of transaction (Ok to Properties changes). Possibly as short as 1 minute.

MM appears to freeze with 2 tracks to tag showing in task status bar.

Went to Debug View. Nothing happening. Got Windows crash alert without MM crash/error dialog.

Have you tried to remove all scripts (and possibly also any non-standard plug-in)?

Owyn, your logs indicates a freeze on track C:\Users\Public\Audio\FromBlogs\Colin Meloy\Colin Meloy Sings Morrissey\06 - Colin Meloy - Every Day Is Like Sunday.mp3. Is it reproducible? If so, it might be interesting to see it...

Hmmm. I'll see what I can do, but the exact case is probably close to impossible to reproduce.

I have been seeing this sort of thing intermittently but in most cases I can restart and complete the initial transaction.

If I can reproduce the freeze, then, I will do a final test with ..\scripts renamed to ..\scripts.old.

Wondering if the recent Windows Crash Alerts I am seeing are because of the Anti-Freeze change. ie. Before the change I would see MM appears to be frozen, now Windows is timing out before MM does.

Thanks for all the reports. It seems that the problem was specific to an AA view (rather than details view) which I why I never observed it.

Having the same issue on Media Monkey on Window 10. Tried it on 2 different computers. Reinstalled software to make sure. Will work for a few minutes, then freezes and eventually crashes (without restarting like the pop up says it will). Only trying to add album art after searching for it using the look up in the file properties. Have to use Ctrl Alt Del to force close the app to get it to completely close to try to start it back up again.
